Great things happened across the United States on Tuesday. Voters turned out in big numbers to send a clear message: hate has no place here, billionaires will not own our government, and the people will unite to protect the rights of all.
Here in Plum, a group of 10 candidates worked hard. They knocked doors, volunteered as coaches, board members, PTO officers, and more. They built relationships, discussed their visions for our Community, made commitments to each other. They became a team.
The first time we gathered, I shared my belief that running for public office is more than just winning or losing – it’s about the journey. The friendships made, the perspectives gained, the things learned about our community help to shape us into better leaders.
On Tuesday, their journey reached a milestone – every single one of them won! And those wins weren’t small. In a municipal election, where a single vote can determine the outcome, most won by hundreds.
In the next two months, they will be sworn into office. The Democrats will take majority on both the school board and the council, as well as taking control of the tax office. I am proud they will be my voice, as we share many fundamental values and a vision for our kids, our business owners, and our Borough. I look forward to seeing them grow in their service: finding compromise, showing compassion and achieving success in their new roles.
Phoebus Apollo, Councilman Ryan Delaney, Adam Hill for Our Children’s Future, Tiffany Hyde for Plum School Director, Jill Ann Klipa, Jimmy McBride, Michelle Naccarati-Chapkis, Elect Michael Palombo for Plum Borough Tax Collector, Ray Rall, and Geter Sloan, on behalf of the Plum Borough Democratic Committee, I offer my heartfelt congratulations!
