Every child deserves to feel safe, supported and loved.
If you suspect a child is being abused, report it!
Warning signs to look out for:
• A child suddenly acts out, is aggressive, or regresses in behavior.
• Different bruises at various stages of healing or nursing an injured limb.
• A child has knowledge of sexual behavior that is not age appropriate.
• A child with poor hygiene, always hungry or frequently absent from school.
• A parent or caretaker is always belittling, threatening or humiliating a child.

To report, contact your local installation Family Advocacy Office, Military Police, CID, Child Protective Services or call 911.

93% of children who are sexually assaulted know their abuser.
We teach “stranger danger”…
but most harm doesn’t come from strangers.
It often comes from people children know, trust, or are expected to respect.
That’s why education has to go deeper:
• teaching body autonomy and boundaries
• helping children recognize unsafe behavior—even from familiar people
• creating safe, judgment-free spaces where they can speak up
And we have to acknowledge a hard truth—many perpetrators are never held accountable.
Protecting children means preparing them for the realities they are more likely to face… not just the ones we’re most comfortable talking about.

The impact of abuse doesn’t end when childhood does.
It can shape how a person sees themselves, others, and the world around them for years to come.
Healing is possible—but prevention, protection, and early support matter.
Every child deserves safety, stability, and a future free from fear.
