Three years ago, Arun Gandhi left this world…

But what he entrusted did not end.

“Avani is my heart.”

We have carried those words forward, not as memory, but as responsibility.

Through the girls of Avani.
Through education.
Through daily acts of ahimsa.

This is what legacy looks like when it is lived.

If his message has ever touched you, take a moment to read this reflection… and share it forward.

Because nonviolence only grows when it is lived, together.

In the global history of disciplined nonviolence, certain moments crystallize moral convergence. One such moment occurred in 1998 at the United Nations, when Reverend Jesse Jackson stood alongside Arun Gandhi and Sunanda Gandhi at the launch of the Season for Nonviolence, a 64 day educational framework bridging the legacies of Mahatma Gandhi and Dr Martin Luther King Jr.

With Reverend Jackson’s passing on February 17, 2026, we offer a reflection on his contribution to nonviolent praxis and on how his life expands the moral lineage embodied in the Season for Nonviolence.

Daily Acts of Ahimsa - January 15

Today we honor the spirit of service as an expression of ahimsa in action. True nonviolence is not passive. It shows up through presence, care, and the willingness to uplift others without seeking recognition.

Whether you volunteer your time, offer your skills, or simply show up where help is needed, service becomes a living prayer. Each act, no matter how small, strengthens the roots of community and reminds us that peace is built through relationship, patience, and shared responsibility.

When we serve with humility and love, we participate in something greater than ourselves. A quiet force that heals, restores, and unites.

Let today’s act of ahimsa be service offered freely, with an open heart.

In this season of light, may we each find moments of peace, reflection, and compassion.

A Season of Ahimsa

In winter’s hush, the world grows still,
Soft snow rests on the evergreen’s will.
Beneath the cold, new life takes hold,
A promise whispered, calm and bold.

May kindness warm each waiting heart,
May gentler ways be where we start.
In every choice, in word and deed,
May love be planted like a seed.

Peace is not loud. It softly grows.
In simple acts the true light shows.
This season, may we clearly see
The strength of care and empathy.

With gratitude for all you do,
May hope rise fresh and steady too.
May joy be shared, may healing begin,
And Ahimsa guide us all within.

May peace take root.
May kindness guide every step.

🌐 United Nations Day 2025 — 80 Years of Global Cooperation & Shared Purpose

On 24 October 1945, nations gathered in San Francisco to sign the Charter of the United Nations, capturing the hopes and aspirations of people everywhere and establishing a new global institution dedicated to peace, prosperity, and human rights for all.

Eight decades later, the opening words — “We the peoples of the United Nations” — continue to guide and inspire the UN’s work. As Secretary-General António Guterres reminds us:

“The United Nations is more than an institution. It is a living promise — one that spans borders, bridges continents, and inspires generations.”

The Ahimsa Peace Institute (d/b/a) of Gandhi Worldwide Education Institute joins in celebrating this milestone, honoring 80 years of collective action and renewing our shared commitment to the United Nations' founding vision: advancing nonviolence, cooperation, and human dignity across all nations.

As part of this legacy, the Gandhi Worldwide Education Institute will present the award-winning documentary AHIMSA – Gandhi: The Power of the Powerless as a Virtual Solution Session (V33) —
