Potato Creek is in north-central Indiana about 12 miles southwest of South Bend. The park features a wide array of activities and facilities for year-round enjoyment. Making reservations is advisable to enjoy some of the facilities at this very popular park. A variety of natural habitats await, including the 327-acre Worster Lake, old fields, mature woodlands, restored prairies and diverse wetland

Let the Zoo come to you at Potato Creek State Park. Join us on Sunday, August 9, 2026 from 3-4pm EDT at the Nature Center Auditorium to meet some ambassador animals. Please come and enjoy this fun and educational event.

Registration is not required for this program. All our programs are free (unless otherwise noted). They are open to the public after paying the park entrance fee. ($7 in-state & $15 out-of-state)

*Note that during peak visitation times, entry into our park might be delayed. Parking lots around the Nature Center can fill quickly. The Nature Center is located approximately 10 minutes from our park’s main entrance gate. Please plan accordingly. *

Indiana State Parks is so lucky that a group of artists chose to celebrate America's 250th by painting platters with images of 25 state parks. These fine china pieces were hand-painted by artists Glenda Abbert, Sandra Kukman, Linda Lane, Sherry Hoefling, C.J. Laster, Cindy Wiltermood, Joyce Dwulet and Ellen Wilson-Pruitt.

We'll post a few pictures each day.

The collection will tour the state at the following locations:
July 3-5, 2026 - America 250 Celebration, Downtown Indianapolis
July 6-24, 2026 - Dubois Co. Museum, Jasper w/program July 11
Aug. 7-23, 2026 - Indiana State Fair, Fine Arts Building and the DNR Building

Join us at the beach for the next summer concert. The Friends of Potato Creek State Park welcomes the "Blue Holler Band" on July 3rd at 6:30pm to 8:00pm.

Concerts are free after paying the park admission. Our events are ADA friendly and open to all those wishing to attend. Bring a lawn chair or blanket.

Potato Creek State Park is now hiring for a full-time interpretive naturalist. Candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality interpretive programs to schools, visitors, and the community. Participates in resource management, including prescribed fire, volunteer coordination, nature center management, and supervisory duties.

HUGGART SETTLEMENT HIKE
Thursday, April 30 at 11:00 a.m.
Walk and celebrate the outdoors with your family by joining the Naturalist on a tour to learn about the fascinating story of this historic cemetery, the significance of the Huggart Settlement to this area, and a look at the first settlers of Potato Creek’s first refrigeration system at our Historic Springhouse. Meet at the Cemetery Parking Lot.

April 23-26 Programs! ☀️

Thursday, April 23rd
11:00 a.m. – HABITAT HIKE
Join the naturalist for a 1-mile walk to study the park’s unique habitats. We’ll look for different birds, mammals, plants, & more. Bring binoculars if you have them. We’ll have a few to share. Meet on the Nature Center porch.

Friday, April 24th
2:00 p.m.- CRITTER FEEDING
Stop by the Nature Center to watch some of our resident reptiles and amphibians eating their worm, minnow, or mouse delights!

Saturday, April 25th
12:00 p.m. – AWESOME AMPHIBIANS
This will be a RIBBITing program that you never FROGet! Hop on over to the Nature Center Auditorium to learn the identification and adaptations of some of our Potato Creek frogs and salamanders.

Sunday, April 26th
1:00 p.m. – LITTLE MAMMALS ON THE PRAIRIE
Learn more about Potato Creek’s smallest mammals in this fun program starting in the Nature Center Auditorium. After introducing a few mammals, the naturalist will test you to see if you have what it takes to survive as one.
