Potato Creek is in north-central Indiana about 12 miles southwest of South Bend. The park features a wide array of activities and facilities for year-round enjoyment. Making reservations is advisable to enjoy some of the facilities at this very popular park. A variety of natural habitats await, including the 327-acre Worster Lake, old fields, mature woodlands, restored prairies and diverse wetland

Walk and celebrate the outdoors with your family by joining the Naturalist on a tour to learn about the fascinating story of this historic cemetery, the significance of the Huggart Settlement to this area, and a look at the first settlers of Potato Creek’s first refrigeration system at our Historic Springhouse. Thursday, April 23rd
11:00 a.m. – HABITAT HIKE
Join the naturalist for a 1-mile walk to study the park’s unique habitats. We’ll look for different birds, mammals, plants, & more. Bring binoculars if you have them. We’ll have a few to share. Meet on the Nature Center porch.

Friday, April 24th
2:00 p.m.- CRITTER FEEDING
Stop by the Nature Center to watch some of our resident reptiles and amphibians eating their worm, minnow, or mouse delights!

Saturday, April 25th
12:00 p.m. – AWESOME AMPHIBIANS
This will be a RIBBITing program that you never FROGet! Hop on over to the Nature Center Auditorium to learn the identification and adaptations of some of our Potato Creek frogs and salamanders.

Sunday, April 26th
1:00 p.m. – LITTLE MAMMALS ON THE PRAIRIE
Learn more about Potato Creek’s smallest mammals in this fun program starting in the Nature Center Auditorium. After introducing a few mammals, the naturalist will test you to see if you have what it takes to survive as one.

Stop in the Nature Center Auditorium any time during the hour to see some of our taxidermy and furs of mammals that call Potato Creek home. The Naturalist will be on hand to show you some of their adaptations and test your identification skills

Thursday, April 9th
11:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m. – CREEK PEEK
Get your feet wet in this exploratory program with a naturalist, where you will discover what small critters call Potato Creek home. Meet the Naturalist at the Family Campground Gate. After a 20-minute walk along the bike trail, the Naturalist will provide tools and directions for exploring this unique spot before returning along the ½ mile path. Water shoes are recommended.

Saturday, April 11th
10:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. – WAYNE POPE (BASIC SMARTPHONE PHOTOGRAPHY)
Wayne Pope is an Indiana Advanced Master Naturalist and a Michigan Master Gardner Michigan State University. His class will be a great help with your wildlife photography, with just your smartphone. "Basic Smartphone Photography" is a 120-minute class that helps you get better photos with your smartphone. It covers the following topics: Camera menus, editing, saving & sharing photos, portrait mode, night sky mode, video, panorama shots & more. The first hour of the class will be located in the Nature Center Auditorium. The following hour uses a hike down a Potato Creek trail to practice what you’ve learned.
