Soldiers, civilians and families assigned to the Professional Education Center celebrated the Army's 251st birthday on Friday, 12 June, 2026, with a day of fitness, fellowship and reflection on the Army's enduring legacy of service to the nation.

The celebration began with a brigade physical training event, bringing Soldiers together to promote readiness, esprit de corps and teamwork. The event reinforced the Army's commitment to maintaining physically fit and mission-ready formations while honoring the service's 251 years of excellence.

Following the PT event, members of the PEC community gathered for a birthday ceremony featuring the Army's traditional cake-cutting. Lt. Col. Curtis Frazier, the oldest Soldier assigned to the Professional Education Center, and Sgt. Jeremy White, the organization's youngest Soldier, cut the birthday cake together. The tradition symbolizes the passing of knowledge, experience and responsibility from one generation of Soldiers to the next.

Established on June 14, 1775, the United States Army has served as the nation's primary land force for more than two and a half centuries, defending the nation through times of war, crisis and peace. The annual birthday celebration provides an opportunity to honor the sacrifices and achievements of past and present Soldiers while reaffirming the Army Values that continue to guide the force.

As the Army enters its 252nd year of service, the Soldiers and civilians of the Professional Education Center remain committed to developing leaders, strengthening readiness and preserving the legacy of those who have served before them.

Today, 12 June, 2026 Capt. Vance Morris was awarded the Master Combat Infantryman Badge during a presentation at the Professional Education Center, recognizing both his demonstrated infantry expertise and combat service.

The Master Combat Infantryman Badge is one of the Army's most distinguished infantry awards. To earn the badge, Soldiers must hold an infantry or Special Forces military occupational specialty, successfully complete rigorous evaluations of critical warfighting skills and have participated in active ground combat while assigned to an infantry unit of brigade size or smaller.

The award signifies mastery of essential infantry tasks while also recognizing the experience gained through combat operations. Candidates are evaluated on physical fitness, land navigation, weapons proficiency, medical tasks, communications and tactical operations, demonstrating their ability to perform under demanding conditions.

Morris' achievement reflects the Army's commitment to building disciplined, capable and combat-ready leaders. As the force continues to prioritize tactical readiness, the Master Combat Infantryman Badge stands as a symbol of professional excellence, battlefield experience and dedication to the infantry profession.

Through continued training and operational experience, Soldiers like Morris help ensure the Army remains prepared to meet the challenges of an increasingly complex security environment.
