North Little Rock Animal Services ensures the health and welfare of both residents and animals within city limits by taking care of abandoned animals and preventing potentially dangerous wildlife-human interactions. Animal Services ensures the health and welfare of both residents and animals within city limits by taking care of abandoned animals and preventing potentially dangerous wildlife-human

interactions. Animal Control responds to an average of 500 service calls each month. The Animal Shelter adopts out an average of 600 pets each year, finding new homes all across the country through adoptions and animal rescues. We work hard to create a city free of feral and unwanted stray animals. Our goal is to reduce the population through intense spay/neuter programs and strict enforcement of ALL North Little Rock city ordinances.

🐾 International Lynx Day 🐾

Today we’re celebrating International Lynx Day—a chance to learn about one of nature’s most fascinating wild cats!

Did you know? Lynx are easy to recognize thanks to their signature tufted ears, short tails, and large, furry paws that act like natural snowshoes. These skilled hunters are found across parts of North America, Europe, and Asia, where they play an important role in maintaining healthy ecosystems.

🌲 Fun Lynx Facts:

A lynx can hear prey moving beneath snow from surprising distances.
Their oversized paws help them walk across deep snow without sinking.
Unlike many big cats, lynx are generally solitary and prefer quiet, forested habitats.
There are four lynx species worldwide: the Eurasian lynx, Canada lynx, Iberian lynx, and bobcat.

💚 Why Lynx Matter
As predators, lynx help keep prey populations balanced, supporting healthier forests and ecosystems. Conservation efforts have helped some lynx populations recover, but habitat loss and other challenges continue to affect these remarkable animals.

🐱 How You Can Help Wildlife

Support habitat conservation.
Learn about native wildlife in your area.
Keep pets supervised outdoors to protect both pets and wild animals.
Share wildlife facts and inspire others to care about conservation.

Today, let’s celebrate these elusive forest guardians and the important role they play in the natural world. Have you ever spotted a lynx—or would you like to? Share your thoughts below! 👇

☀️🐾 Summer Means More of Everything 🐾☀️

With summer in full swing, kids are spending more time outside enjoying the sunshine—and many of them are bringing their four-legged best friends along for the fun. We love seeing children and pets making memories together, but summer also brings an increase in loose dogs and dog-related incidents.

Our officers are bringing in many dogs every day, sometimes more than 20 dogs in a single day. With more children outside playing, there is also a greater risk of dog bites and other preventable accidents.

Please take a few moments to talk with the kids in your life about pet safety. Dogs should always be kept on a leash or safely contained within a fenced yard when outside. Doing so helps prevent pets from:
🐕 Running away
🚗 Being hit by a vehicle
💔 Being lost or stolen
⚠️ Biting or injuring someone

We want everyone—kids, pets, and families—to enjoy a safe and happy summer together. A little extra supervision can go a long way in keeping both our community and our furry friends safe.

Have fun, stay cool, and enjoy your summer! ☀️❤️🐾

🥣 Help Us Finish Strong for the Annual Cereal Drive! 🥣

Each summer, many children lose access to the free breakfasts they receive during the school year. That's why the City's Annual Cereal Drive is so important—it helps provide food for local youth when they need it most.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, we were able to contribute thousands of boxes of cereal to the drive last year. This year, we're closing in on an exciting milestone of 100 boxes collected!

The final collection day is June 26, and there's still time to make a difference. Remember, $1 equals 1 box of cereal, so we are also accepting monetary donations to help reach our goal.

Together, we can help ensure children in our community have access to a nutritious breakfast this summer. Let's make these next couple of weeks count and show our support for our youth!

Thank you to everyone who has donated so far—we couldn't do it without you. 💙

🐾❤️ Happy Pet Appreciation Week! ❤️🐾

This week, we celebrate the furry, feathered, and four-legged friends who fill our lives with unconditional love, comfort, and joy. From wagging tails and gentle purrs to silly antics and loyal companionship, our pets make every day a little brighter.

Whether they greet us at the door, curl up beside us when we need comfort, or simply make us smile with their unique personalities, our pets are truly family.

Take a moment this week to give your beloved companion an extra treat, a little more playtime, and plenty of cuddles. They give us their whole hearts every day, and they deserve to be celebrated.

As always, if you're looking for a new addition to celebrate this week, we have plenty!🐶🐱🐰🐴🐦

🌻🐾 A Happy Reunion with One of Our Alumni! 🐾🌻

One of our North Little Rock Animal Services alumni stopped by recently with her new rescue brother to pick up their giveaway basket from last month—and just look at how beautiful they are! ❤️

There are few things in animal welfare that bring us more joy than seeing our former shelter pets thriving in loving homes. Every adoption is a new beginning, and getting to watch these animals grow into happy, healthy family members is the reason we do what we do.

We couldn't be prouder of this little crew, and we're so grateful their family chose us when they were looking to add furry companions to their home. Knowing that these pets are loved, cherished, and living their best lives means everything to us.

And seeing our former Sunflower—now named Sunny—looking so healthy, happy, and adored is all we could ever hope for. ☀️🌻

Thank you for giving these wonderful dogs the lives they deserve and for allowing us to be a small part of their story. Moments like this remind us why every animal is worth the effort.

Help us show Sunny and her brother some love in the comments! ❤️🐾🏡
