2024-2025 Budget Vote/Trustee Election – a budget vote and trustee election was held on Tuesday, April 16, 2024.



The proposed 2024-2025 budget called for total expenditures of $3,082,190 with $3,025,916 to be raised by taxes. The amount to be raised by taxes represented a 2.92% budget increase and was within the tax cap.



The results of the 2024 library vote were finalized April 16, and were as follows:

Today is the day! I hope everyone will consider coming out TODAY to vote for Eric Ackley for North Merrick Library Board and me, Melissa Chambers, for North Merrick Library Trustee! Voting is open from 10am-9pm at the library.

The children’s room is slated to begin a massive and much needed renovation (as a lifelong North Merrick resident I can attest to how it has remained mostly unchanged for decades!) and it’s so important that the board members are ACTIVE patrons and have school age children.

Upgrades to the space, including a new children's room, new programs and events and expanded digital access are just a few of the improvements we plan to make, and we know how important they are because our families actually spend time there!

I am proud to have teamed up with Eric to rally our community to provide letters of support for federal funding for renovations to the North Merrick Library children’s room.

2 seats are open, and there are 2 candidates that will ensure the best for the library. Vote Melissa Chambers and Eric Ackley for North Merrick Library Board Trustees on April 16th - 10am-9pm.

Melissa Chambers and I were present at the library board meeting on March 26th when we heard there was a significant federal grant we could apply for. We immediately wrote our letters as library patrons and connected with our community to get additional letters of support. The library received close to 50 letters within hours!

Although we have yet to hear the results for this grant, this was a community effort supported by the only two non-board members present at that meeting, me and Melissa.

As a first time mom, trips to the North Merrick Library were on the short list of outings I would take with my daughter. From Play Hooray, to storytimes, to just playing in the children’s room - I always felt safe and comfortable there.

Today I’m a mom of 2, ages 8 and 4, and we find ourselves at the library multiple times a week. Both of my children have formed bonds with the incredible children’s room librarians who always know just what they’re looking for. I love that my kids have this safe space to learn and grow.

Your library board should be made up of people who know and love the library and are active patrons of the library.
