Last night, I had the honor of joining the North Miami CRA for the Inaugural Investing in Impact Grantee Reception at NoMi Village 💚💙. It was a beautiful evening dedicated to celebrating the businesses, homeowners, and community members who received CRA grants across infrastructure, residential, and commercial.

Congratulations to all of our 2026 grantees. Thank you for choosing to invest in North Miami, and thank you to the North Miami CRA for making nights like these possible.

Yesterday, in partnership with MJD Wellness And Community C., Farm Share, Miami-Dade County, and the City of North Miami, we showed up for our community in a big way. Over 200 North Miami residents received fresh food distributions at the North Miami Public Library.

I recently had the honor of touring the future home for Southern Birth Justice & Wellness Center Southern Birth Justice Network right here in District 2.

Southern Birth Justice is doing transformative work in our community, and I am proud to support their vision of creating a home for Black maternal health right here in our backyard. This is exactly the kind of investment our community deserves.

We celebrated the start of the school year at North Miami’s Back to School & National Night Out and the energy was incredible. In partnership with Aunt Flow and volunteers from the Barry University PERIOD chapter ✨🩸Period 🩸✨ , we were proud to distribute all 10,000 period products to our community.

A heartfelt thank you to Aunt Flow for making period equity a priority and to the Barry University PERIOD chapter volunteers who gave their time and energy to serve our community ❤️🫶🏾

I’m excited to partner with Aunt Flow to bring a Period Party® to North Miami’s Back to School & National Night Out event! Come find us at the Vice Mayor’s tent on August 4th and build your own FREE period kit to take home.

Together we’ll be distributing 10,000 period products across 500 kits because access to basic necessities should never be a barrier for anyone in our community.

I had the honor of hosting a reception to celebrate the 2026 North Miami Educational Foundation scholarship recipients.

This year, the Foundation awarded a total of $54,000 in scholarships to 20 North Miami students who 12 are heading to colleges and universities, and 8 are receiving the Sophia James Hall Memorial Scholarship for vocational training at Lindsey Hopkins Technical College.

Since 2014, the Foundation has awarded more than $606,000 in scholarships to 157 North Miami students, helping make higher education more attainable for local families.
