Today, we had the opportunity to visit Waterway Elementary and share the importance of beach safety with the next generation! 🌊☀️

From rip currents and flag warnings to what lifeguards do every day, we loved teaching these students how to stay safe while enjoying our beautiful beaches. Thank you for having us, Waterway Elementary!

🚩 The red flag at the pier is there for a reason.
This designated boundary helps keep surfers away from the pier structure, reducing the risk of collisions, injuries from barnacles, and other hazards. It also helps us safely manage beach traffic in one of the busiest areas of our shoreline.

Our guards are stationed nearby to monitor the area and help keep everyone safe. Please respect all posted flags and designated surf zones.

This weeks lifeguard of the week is Jayden Springirth🏄‍♂️
He is a hardworking member of North Myrtle Beach Ocean Rescue stationed at Tower 2 at the point.

Jayden is someone you can always count on to work hard, stay driven, and have your back when it matters most. Outside of guarding, he loves to surf and is looking into attending lineman school in the future.

We’re proud to have him on our team helping keep our beaches safe this summer! ☀️🌊

Meet Grace Comparone our featured Lifeguard of the Week!

Grace is heading into her 5th year with North Myrtle Beach Ocean Rescue and continues to bring positivity, dedication, and a love for the ocean to the beach every day. When she’s not guarding, you can usually find her staying active whether that’s running, working out, hiking, traveling, or chasing her goal of completing a marathon this year. 🏃‍♀️
Her adventurous spirit, love for the outdoors, and passion for the beach make her such a great part of our team. We’re lucky to have her out there helping keep our beaches safe this summer! ☀️🌊

National Beach Safety Week! 🌊🇺🇸
Memorial Day weekend is here and our Ocean Rescue team is ready for a safe summer on the beach. Before heading to the beach take a minute to review these important beach safety reminders.

✔ Swim near a lifeguard
✔ Never swim alone
✔ Learn rip current safety
✔ Designate a water watcher
✔ Alcohol and water don’t mix
✔ Observe beach flags and warning signs
✔ Beat the heat and block the sun
✔ Feet first water entry
✔ Life jackets save lives

Our guards are on duty daily from 9:30 AM – 5:30 PM to help keep everyone safe this holiday weekend.
