North Myrtle Beach Rescue Squad

North Myrtle Beach Rescue Squad Providing 100% free 911 Response, CPR/Safety Education, and Water Rescue to NMB and beyond since 1958 The squad was started in May 1958.

North Myrtle Beach Rescue is one of the oldest rescue squads in South Carolina. Three local businessmen donated $200.00 and bought a used 1950 Packard hearse from a local funeral home. We were incorporated as Crescent Beach Rescue Squad. This was before there was a city of North Myrtle Beach. They equipped the hearse with an oxygen bottle and made padded splints. The local pharmacist gave them les

sons in first aid. This was the extent of our equipment and medical knowledge. In the 43 years, we have always been there for our community. When the merging of Crescent Beach, Windy Hill, Cherry Grove and the Ocean Drive sections into one city created the City of North Myrtle Beach, the name was changed to North Myrtle Beach Rescue Squad. And what a difference 63 years can make. We now cover an area that extends form the North Carolina state line south to the Northern borders of Myrtle Beach. The Shore Drive area is in our coverage area. From the Atlantic Ocean on the east, we cross the Intercoastal Waterway to Hwy 905. Our coverage areas include North Myrtle Beach, Atlantic Beach, Cherry Grove Beach, Little River, Longs, Wampee, Brooksville and the Poplar communities.

Your North Myrtle Beach Rescue Squad gave out free Rally Dogs (with all the fixin's), chips and water to our locals and visiting bikers at the Harley Davidson Shop At The Beach last week. We happily accepted donations in return and, as always, you were very generous. Everyone had so much fun! Thinking about naming the event "Dogs for Hogs" next year 😂

We did it again! Members of your Rescue Squad helped out at Westminster Preschool's Teddy Bear Health Fair last week. We had a great time triaging all the "sick" and "injured" stuffed animals and showing the children the ambulance. Thank you for having us!

Your North Myrtle Beach Rescue Squad teamed up with North Myrtle Beach Fire Rescue to provide the medical coverage for this year’s Monday After the Masters. No golf ball strikes this year! Crews did respond to one medical emergency and the first aid tent stayed busy. The event was a great success and the weather could not be better. We would like to say thank you for your support.

Your North Myrtle Beach Rescue Squad's Water Rescue team held their annual swim test and skills training at the NMB Aquatic Center. We reviewed rescue tools, methods and backboarding in the water. It’s serious training but this team makes it fun. Always training, always ready to help!

On Saturday, your North Myrtle Beach Rescue Squad participated in the City of North Myrtle Beach’s 8th Annual Touch-a-Truck event at the Sports Complex. Thousands of kids (and big kids) got to see the inside of our ambulance and climb aboard our amphibious boat. This is one of our favorite events every year!
