Attention 3rd-5th Graders in the North Myrtle Beach, Little River, Longs area:

Want to help create a Christmas card design for our Fire Department and/or Police Department this season?

Drop off your design (meeting requirements as listed in image below) to 1015 Second Ave South at our Police Department Records Division. You can submit two designs, one for Fire and one for Police!

Deadline to submit is December 3rd!

One winner will be selected for Fire and one selected for Police. Winners will receive a prize as well as a copy of the card they helped create.

Best of luck. We can’t wait to see the designs submitted!

On November 18th and 19th, the North Myrtle Beach Police Department will be partnering with Chick-fil-A to raise money for the Special Olympics during our Cops on the Coop fundraiser. Come out and support this cause and these wonderful athletes!

Public Safety Notice – Bear Sighting

At approximately 9:42 PM on November 12, 2025, officers responded to a report of a black bear spotted near Baywatch Resort (2701 S Ocean Blvd).
Officers located a bear cub weighing approximately 130 lbs in the area of 21st Avenue South and South Ocean Boulevard.

The bear was safely directed westbound and eventually entered the wooded area near 9th Avenue South and Strand Avenue.

The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (DNR) was notified and responded to assist. DNR advised that the bear is likely to make its way back to its natural habitat and that there may be additional sightings over the next day or so.

👉 Important reminders:
Do not approach or attempt to feed any bear you may see.
Secure trash cans and remove any outdoor food sources, including pet food.
If you spot a bear in your area, call NMBPD at (843) 280-5511 or DNR so officers can help safely guide the animal away.
Officers and DNR will continue to monitor the area.
Thank you for your cooperation as we work to keep both our community and local wildlife safe.

Earlier this week, NMBPD Captain Downey had the privilege of being Ocean Drive Elementary's Principal for the day! We are thankful to have a great relationship with the wonderful staff at Ocean Drive Elementary School and their students. Great job Captain!
