Company leaders honored the top fire and EMS responders, auxiliary members who have supported firefighters and EMS workers, members who have given decades of service to the company and members who died in 2015.

The company handled 2,308 fire calls, 7,436 EMS calls and auxiliary members put in 733 hours on emergency calls in 2015.

Bystander application of a tourniquet to 'Stop the Bleed' may mean the difference between life and death for a patient with severe hemorrhage.

Hemorrhage is the second leading cause of death for patients injured the prehospital environments.

The first thing the 281 South African firefighters did when they touched down in Edmonton was sing. One of the firefighters said the group of 281 has only known each other for a day, and singing is how they bond.

Remember to take care of yourself in this hot weather and check on your neighbors. Utilize local cooling stations if needed. Cooling stations are open at 400 East Front St from 9am-5pm and at 518 Watchung Ave from Noon to 8pm.
