Words of Wisdom from a Wise Man

Words of Wisdom from a Wise Man Hello Please allow me to introduce myself. I am a wise man with wise thoughts, and wise opinions

If you are expecting to undergo any surgery and times soon, best to cozy up to the sister that lives the closest to you. If lucky, like I was, she'll invite you over to recuperate, feed you, entertain you and all of that.

No longer feeling wise, nor much like a man for that matter, I hereby give my thirty days notice of my intent to retire this page. Should some wise person out there be interested in assuming responsibility for maintaining it, please, just raise your hand and I will gladly hand you the baton.

Having realized that I am not a wise man and that no wise man would have created a page purporting to expound words of wisdom, I have trying to figure out how to delete this page forthwith and without delay. If any wise soul out there can come to my aid, I would be most appreciative.

Wash your hands often and keep six feet between you and others when out in the public.

Todays wisdom from this wise man will come as no surprise. Follow the instructions laid out at the local, state and federal level on dealing with the Coronavirus. Stay safe and keep your loved ones safe. Pray for all who are affected and especially for those who have lost loved ones. This to shall pass.

This post relates to emails we receive from sites we are not interested in receiving them from. With the nature of "big brother watching" capabilities of the internet today, many people (most people) receive a steady diet of unwanted, irrelevant and unneeded emails, most looking for something from you like money, support etc. Over the years, I have spent endless hours deleting the emails without opening them, only to get another a couple of days later. I have just learned that senders of junk mail (as I call it) are required by law to provide a link allowing a recipient to "unsubscribe" from the sender. It is usually hidden at or near the end of a long post and is more often than not, readily visible. But if you persevere you will find it because law requires it. Click on it and you will be taken to an unsubscribe page where you may or may not be required to enter your email address. After you click on the unsubscribe link you will be unsubscribed -- in theory. In some cases I have continued to receive electronic correspondence from the site. In these case, I start sending threatening emails to the sight asking that they be forwarded to the Office of General Counsel (the company's inhouse lawyer's office). This works. If you all already know all of this, please forgive me. At times, I am slow on the uptake.

During December, which is the time of the real Wise Men, I have found it unwise to be spouting off about things I feel are wise.

A wise man once told me that people who claim to be wise, lack wisdom. Go figure.

To the democrats in Washington, a wise man once said, "Best not to crap where you eat." Seemed like good advice to me when I first heard it, seems like good advice to you now.

Never, ever, and I mean, never, look a gift crocodile in the mouth.

A very wise man told me on his deathbed that wisdom is the antithesis of stupidity and I believe him.

My Story

As I walk through the Facebook steps of creating this website, I have come to a spot where I am directed to say “a little about myself”. That’s a good thing due to the fact that there is very little of note to say about me. I was born and raised in Southampton County, graduated from Southampton High School, then attended and graduated from the University of Virginia (BS in Commerce) and finally, attended and graduated from the T.C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond. I practiced law for the next forty-five years with some measure of success . I have three wonderful daughters and five grandchildren (Cater two boys and one girl; Alice twins, a boy and a girl) and a sixth on the way (Mimi is due in early fall). I have enjoyed relatively good health throughout my life, notwithstanding artificial hips and shoulders, cancer, a stroke, three broken noses (well - just one nose, broken three times), four broken fingers, kidney stones, failing eye sight, moderate hearing loss, the flu twice and fourteen colds (ok, ok, I really don’t remember who many colds I have had, but fourteen seems about right). Finally, and perhaps the most challenging medical condition I have faced has been bipolar disorder, diagnosed thirty years ago and managed by drugs since. And that’s all I’ve got to say about that.
