High stress. Zero visibility. Worst-case scenarios.
This week, the recruitment team had the opportunity to watch Recruit Class 58 sharpen their Safety & Survival skills through a series of demanding drills designed to simulate real-world emergency situations. From the Denver Drill to the Buffalo Drill, recruits were challenged to think critically, communicate effectively, conserve air, and stay calm under pressure in vision-obscured, high-stress environments.
From using tools in unconventional ways, such as using a halligan tool as a step to make it through a window, to relying on teamwork and communication, RC 58 recruits continue building the skills needed for the moments that matter most.
The final slide captures recruits helping one another swap out their cylinders between drills — a reminder that no one does this job alone.
‼️This could be YOU next! Applications for RC61 opening June 15, 2026.
