The Danvers Police Department joins the law enforcement community in mourning the loss of Brittany L. Dougal of the North Kingstown Police Department, who passed away on March 4, 2026.

Officer Dougal was a lifelong Danvers resident and a graduate of Danvers High School. Her family continues to reside in Danvers, and many members of our Department knew Brittany or her family personally. Her loss is deeply felt throughout our Department and our community.

Officer Dougal tragically died by su***de. Her passing is a heartbreaking reminder that behind every badge is a human being. The mental health challenges faced by police officers and first responders are real. Supporting one another and seeking help when needed is critical.

To honor Officer Dougal and show support for her family and colleagues, members of the Danvers Police Department will wear black mourning bands on their badges through March 14th.

Please keep Brittany’s family, friends, and the members of the North Kingstown Police Department in your thoughts during this difficult time.

Services for Officer Dougal will be held this Friday and Saturday at Peterson O’Donnell Funeral Home.
