Mattoon, Il:
On December 15, Illinois Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve State Chair Laurie Silvey presented a Patriot Award at Rural King Distribution Center to Jason Hortenstine. He was nominated by Anthony Silva, who is a First Lieutenant in the Army National Guard. Silva told ESGR Hortenstine is always supportive of his service. Silva had previously been a Reservist, but left because a previous employer treated his service like a burden. “That is not the case with Rural King and my supervisor, Mr. Hortenstine," Silva said. "I was encouraged to return to military service and my service was applauded as noble. I was gone for initial training for four month--which can be seen as a lifetime at a large business. I was greeted with open arms on my return and welcomed back as a valued member of the team. Rural King and Jason Hortenstine have gone out of their way to not only accommodate but encourage and support my service.”
Hortenstine also signed a Statement of Support for Rural King. Congratulations, and thanks for your strong support of our military!🇺🇸

To Whom It May Concern:

I have a few questions please. I am on orders with the IL ARNG. Rumor has it the orders may end early. I been looking for civilian employment for when my orders end. How should I go about this? Should I tell employers I am on orders? If I do they will not hire me. If I was sure of when my orders would end it would not be an issue. If an employer needs someone ASAP but I am on currently on orders is that a USSERRA violation? I do have a job I can go back to but what if I earn a better job?

Thank you,
Congratulations to Carle BroMenn Medical Center President Colleen Kannaday on being recognized with an Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Patriot Award. Kannaday was nominated by Dr. John Wieland, who serves in the Navy Reserve, and who is medical director and surgeon at Carle BroMenn Medical Center in Normal, Illinois. Thank you for your support!

Illinois ESGR |
I applied for a few jobs. The places want to interview me. I tell them I am on TEMPORARY orders with the ARNG. They say call us and see if we are hiring when your orders are up. Does this violate USERRA laws?
Not sure if this is the right place to post this so please move this if needed. I am on TEMPORARY orders with the IL ARNG till 1-Oct-21. A few civilian employers wanted to interview and or higher me. They find out I am on orders (after the orders I need a job) and change there minds and do not want to hire me. Is this covered by USERRA or ESGR? Employers can't fire you for being the the arng, but nothing says they can refuse to hire you because you are in the ARNG.
Great event for veterans and their families from American Legion Post #0488 which does most of its activities now virtually.
