During this morning's Illinois ESGR event in Peoria, 43 employers enjoyed breakfast, briefings and a tour in the skies, as they learned about their Guard and Reserve employees' military responsibilities.

This is the view 60+ bosses had on the C-130 Hercules flight they experienced during Illinois Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve's "BossLift" breakfast briefing, held May 19 in Peoria. Employers learned about the tasks and missions of Guard and Reserve, and got a better idea of what their employees are doing while away at drill or on deployment.

Meet Illinois ESGR's Freedom Award Nominees for 2021:
On Friday July 16, 2021, Illinois Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) recognized the employers from Illinois who received nominations for the Secretary of Defense Freedom Award this year. The virtual event kicked off with a short employer briefing by Vice Chair Michael Holub. The Adjutant General of the state of Illinois, Major General Richard R. Neely, spoke next, noting the uptick in activity for the Illinois National Guard(Army and Air)over the past year. He congratulated the employers on the call, thanking them for their support of their reserve component servicemember employees.
Following his keynote speech, State Chair Laurie Silvey recognized each nominated employer by category. The semi-finalists for Illinois were then invited to speak. Clarendon Hills Police Department is Illinois’ nominee for Public Sector, with Paul Dalen accepting. For the Small Employers, icon Mechanical was Illinois’ nominee this year – Steven Faust accepted. And for the Large Employers category, Astellas Pharma US was the semi-finalist nominee, with Jason Morhart accepting.
