Did you know you might be able to purchase affordable, plug-in solar panels soon? These solar panels are already popular in other parts of the world, and many states are in the process of passing legislation to make them legal in the U.S. You can hang these panels over balcony railings, attach them to walls, or place them in your yard, then simply plug them into a regular wall socket. With the help of a small device called a micro inverter, pictured above, these panels will then pump electricity directly into your house to offset your power demand, lowering monthly utility costs. Thank you to all of our neighbors, project partners, and Climate Smart Leadership Community Committee (CSC) members for joining us this past Friday to introduce the brand-new solar project at the Town Highway Department garage! None of this could have been possible without support from , the North Salem Town Board, the North Salem Highway Department and the Climate Committee. We are so proud to have this critical sustainability project fully completed, as we expect these 288 solar photovoltaic modules to cover all of the Highway Department’s needs.
