This Month in CFFD History - August

This month features an article about a fire in Croton Falls from The Journal News August 28, 2013. Each Monday night we conduct drills and train to prepare for future emergencies. This past March we conducted a size-up drill in Croton Falls to train and identify any potential hazards in town. During the size-up drill, as we walked along West Cross Street, members who fought the fire in this month’s article explained what occurred to the newer members. Ladder 67 was used to size-up the different roof tops and see the structures from a different vantage point. Then in April we conducted a water source drill in Croton Falls to train newer members and practice drafting water from the river in town. These drills are essential to help us train, practice, and identify any new challenges or hazards we may face. Westchester Uniformed Dispatchers Association Fundraiser

Summer Nights at Outhouse Orchards will host a fundraiser for the Westchester Uniformed Dispatchers Association (WUDA) on Saturday, July 25th, from 5 PM to 9 PM. Live music will be performed by Andrea and the Armenian Rug Riders. Tickets are available for $15 in advance at the Outhouse Orchards website www.outhouseorchardsny.com or $20 at the door. All proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the Westchester Uniformed Dispatchers Association.

WUDA is the backbone of The Westchester County Emergency Services Communications Division (60 Control). For 33 years countless dedicated telecommunicators have answered millions of calls for help, providing calm, compassion, and professionalism during what are often the worst moments in someone's life. Every call answered, every dispatch initiated, and every life impacted is a testament to the commitment of the men and women who have served, and continue to serve, at 60 Control.

The event promises a night filled with live music, delicious food, and a variety of farm activities for the whole family.
