Obituary of David M. Moje | Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, Inc.

It is with great sadness that the Wendelville Fire Company announces the passing of Past Chief David Moje. Dave was one of the most active members within the Fire Company and dedicated 46 years to the Fire Company and citizens of Pendleton. Even while sick Dave would still show up as much as he could to help out and participate however possible with his brothers and sisters. Dave will never be forgotten and his legacy is one that everyone at Wendelville and beyond will never forget. Rest In Peace Dave, we will take it from here with the wisdom you blessed all of us with. John 12:26 “ Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me.”

David Moje passed away peacefully at his home August 24, 2019. Born in Lockport June 9, 1955 he was the son of the late Robert and Lauraine (Gregson) Moje. He leaves his wife of 39 year, Ann Moje (Leising) who he married May 17, 1980. Born and raised in Pendleton where he went to Starpoint Central a...

Niagara County Sheriff's Office Press Release:

The Niagara County Sheriff's Office is looking for assistance in locating a motor vehicle that struck a Rapids Volunteer fireman at the intersection of Tonawanda Creek and Minnick Roads on August 18, 2019 at 21:40 hrs.
The fireman was directing traffic at the intersection because Tonawanda Creek Road was closed due to a motor vehicle accident. The fireman was wearing a reflective vest, had a lighted wand, and a blue light illuminated on the side of his truck. A vehicle, described as a newer white Dodge 1500 pick-up , approached westbound on Tonawanda Creek Road. The vehicle slowed, but did not stop, striking the fireman causing serious physical injuries. The truck fled the scene. The Dodge has black pin-striping that is approximately 1 1/2" wide that runs from the rear of the vehicle to the front, just above the door handle. The truck may have front end or side damage.
The fireman is being treated at Erie County Medical Center.
Anyone with information should contact Investigator Marc Reele of the Criminal Investigation Bureau at (716)438-3327.

Teamwork: The definition is "the combined action of a group of people, especially when effective and efficient." Training: The definition is "the action of teaching a person a particular skill or type of behavior." Vigilance: The definition is "the action or state of keeping careful watch for possible danger or difficulties." These are three words that we use in Emergency Services and are practiced within our Fire Company.

Early this morning, just before 0300 hours, we had a call that changed the life of a family. We sprang into action from the warmth of our beds to assist however possible because that's what we signed up to do. The call did not end well, but our teamwork, training and vigilance was noticed by all. Below is a message that was received regarding the call from the medics that displays why training is so important even when the outcome may be grim.

The message received:

To whom it may concern

Tonight my partner and I responded to an unconscious person which ended up being a code. My partner and I cannot thank the first responders who were on scene with us enough. CPR had already been initiated prior to our arrival which shows excellent training. Everyone remained calm and were extremely helpful! I have never worked a cardiac arrest that went so smoothly. Unfortunately we would've hoped for a different result for our patient but we could not have put our best efforts in without the help of your men.

Thank you all!!

This is what emergency services is all about, working together through whatever situation you encounter to the best of your ability no matter what the end result may be. A special Thank You to all of our partners in the field, we thank you for all that you do and especially your teamwork......

Last night Wendelville Fire Company responded to a call regarding a single vehicle MVA that went off the road and possibly into the creek. Attached are some photos of the vehicle on arrival and after removal, amazing that the driver walked away from this one.

From the Niagara County Sheriff's Office:
Pendleton, NY - On November 25, 2018, at approximately 1800 hrs, the Niagara County Sheriff's Office responded to a one car injury accident near 4675 Tonawanda Creek Road in the Town of Pendleton. Initial investigation revealed that the vehicle was traveling westbound on Tonawanda Creek Road and failed to negotiate a curve. The vehicle left the road on the south side and continued on grass, striking flag pole before going down an embankment towards Tonawanda Creek. The vehicle did not enter the water. The operator of the vehicle, 24 year old Timothy Doores of Pendleton, was transported by Twin City Ambulance to Milliard Fillmore Suburban for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Mr. Doores was charged with Driving While Intoxicated and several vehicle and traffic charges. The investigation is continuing by the Niagara County Sheriff's Office. Further charges may be pending.
