High School Equivalency (HSE) Program
The High School Equivalency program is designed to help students study for the High School Equivalency Exam to earn their high school diploma. (This program replaced the old GED program.) Study Classes are as follows:
Morning Class - Monday through Thursday 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Afternoon Class - Monday through Thursday 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Evening Class - Mondays
& Thursdays 5:30 pm- 8:30 pm
*Requirements include: Must be at least 18 and must attend class either 12 hours or 6 hours a week depending on the class the student is taking. Students ages 16-18 may be considered for this program after attempting the ASC program. See below for more details.
2. Adult Secondary Credit Program
Students complete courses on a computer program (E2020) to finish their credits for their high school diploma.
*Requirements include: Must be at least 16 with a withdrawal form, minimum of 18 credits upon entry, attend 15 hours a week, and complete a minimum of one class every month. STUDENTS UNDER 18 MUST ATTEMPT THIS PROGRAM BEFORE CONSIDERATION FOR THE HSE PROGRAM. Computer Lab Hours for ASC:
Monday & Tuesday 8:00 - 4:30
Wednesday & Thursday 8:00 - 3:00
Friday 8:00 - 2:30
Other Programs Offered:
1. Work One
JCEC also does preliminary testing and hours for Work One. Work One provides several certification programs that include CNA, CDL, Welding, HVAC, CNC, EMT, and more! To qualify for Work One, a person must have a high school diploma, pass a drug screening, have TABE scores above 9th grade level, and complete 12 hours at the JCEC. 2. Literacy Tutoring
Students work one on one with a tutor to strength their literacy skills.
3. ESL Classes
JCEC offers English as a Second Language (ESL) classes once to twice a year. Times and dates may vary. Call for more information.
4. College Readiness Classes
JCEC offers free College Readiness classes once to twice a year. College Readiness classes focus on math and language skills needed to begin college. Times and dates for these classes may vary. Call for more information.
