Jennings County 911 proudly joins communities across the nation in celebrating National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, April 12–18, 2026, by honoring the outstanding men and women who serve as the vital first link in every emergency response. Often called the “first, first responders,” 911 telecommunicators are the calm, professional voices on the other end of the line when someone dials 911. They are the very first public safety professionals to answer every emergency call—medical, fire, law enforcement, or other crisis—24 hours a day, seven days a week. While police officers, firefighters, and EMS personnel respond to specific incidents, telecommunicators manage every single emergency that occurs in Jennings County during their shift. These professionals carry an enormous responsibility on their shoulders, in a matter of seconds, they must gather critical information, stay composed under extreme pressure, dispatch the appropriate resources, and provide lifesaving instructions to callers—all while managing multiple emergencies at once. It takes a truly special person with a unique combination of skill, compassion, and strength to do this job day in and day out.”National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week is an annual opportunity to recognize the men and women who answer the calls that others cannot. Their work often goes unseen by the public, yet it is the foundation upon which all other emergency services operate. Jennings County 911 extends its deepest gratitude to its exceptional team of telecommunicators for their unwavering commitment to protecting and serving the citizens of Jennings County. Their professionalism, quick thinking, and dedication make our community safer every single day. Thank you to our 911 telecommunicators—you are the unsung heroes who answer the call when it matters most.
