THRIVE Advocation at the Jennings County Jail
THRIVE RCO is a dedicated nonprofit organization committed to advocating for and supporting houseless individuals, those grappling with mental health issues, and individuals experiencing substance use disorders. Our mission is to empower vulnerable populations through access to compassionate care and comprehensive services, while promoting dignity, resilience, and recovery. Through collaborative partnerships, community engagement initiatives, and evidence-based practices, we strive to cultivate inclusive communities and advance social justice for all individuals facing these challenges. THRIVE offers Peer Support, Community Outreach, Street Outreach, and IRACS.
Inside the Jennings County Jail:
THRIVE works with the incarcerated population to help navigate their next steps. THRIVE and their certified peer support specialists work inside Jennings County Jail using the Indiana official evidence-based Matrix model for justice involved persons. The Matrix model includes recovery skills, relapse prevention, and reintegration. We also navigate individuals to treatment while awaiting pre-trial, treatment upon release, refer to Jennings County ARC, transitional housing, sign them up for therapy upon release, begin recovery plans, provide transportation to treatment, and obtain social security cards as well as birth certificates while incarcerated so they can find employment upon release. We also help them to identify and eliminate any barriers they may face. We walk alongside individuals once they are released to help support them in their recovery for as long as they need.
Michelle Hall and Ashley Brewer work diligently on a weekly basis to advocate and support incarcerated individuals at the Jennings County Jail.
Michelle Hall states:
“I love my job at the Jennings County Jail because it gives me the chance to walk alongside justice-involved individuals as they focus on recovery and getting the help they deserve. As someone in recovery myself, living with co-occurring mental health issues, I understand the fear, shame, and hope that often come with this journey. Being able to share empathy, encouragement, and practical support allows me to turn my own lived experience into something meaningful, helping others see that change is possible and that they are not alone.”
