Families may be eligible for SUN Bucks, a summer grocery benefit program that provides a one-time payment of $120 per eligible child to help purchase food while school is out. Many children will be enrolled automatically, while some households may need to apply.

Benefits begin being issued in early June. Visit the SUN Bucks website or call 1-877-762-1575 for eligibility information and application details.

Congratulations to the Class of 2032 on completing elementary school!

Students were recently recognized during a promotion ceremony where academic merit honorees were celebrated and all sixth graders received certificates of completion. Dr. Long, principal of East Allegheny Jr./Sr. High School, welcomed the students to junior high "down the hill" next year and paused for a selfie with students and their families to mark the occasion.

We are incredibly proud of all you have accomplished and look forward to seeing how much more you will grow in the years ahead. Enjoy your summer, Wildcats!

The Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank Summer Youth Café Program provides healthy, free meals to all youth ages 18 and under throughout the summer months.

Designed to help families stay connected to nutritious food while school is out of session, the program offers meals at no cost and with no registration required. In addition, eligible families may qualify for SUN Bucks, which provides $120 in grocery benefits per child for the summer.

Families can visit participating meal sites throughout the summer to access support and resources close to home.

What an incredible accomplishment for East Allegheny students Mason Osterritter and Coen Miller.

Competing at the International SeaPerch Challenge in College Park, Maryland, Mason and Coen earned a spot among the top 210 teams in the world, facing teams from across the United States as well as China, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Egypt, Kazakhstan, and Kenya.

In the High School Stock Class, the team placed 23rd out of 82 teams overall. They also earned a 15th-place finish in the Mission Course, 26th place in the Technical Design Report, and 36th place in the Obstacle Course.

These results reflect countless hours of hard work, creativity, and problem-solving. Mason and Coen represented East Allegheny with excellence on an international stage, and we could not be prouder of what they achieved.

Thank you to Bettis Naval Nuclear Laboratory, the East Allegheny School District, and our administration for making opportunities like this possible.

Congratulations, Mason and Coen. You made the entire Wildcat community proud.

Logan Elementary’s kindergarten students celebrated the end of a wonderful year with a special graduation program, sharing songs and smiles with a full auditorium of proud family members and friends.

We are so proud of everything these students have accomplished this year and look forward to welcoming them back in the fall as first graders. Have a wonderful summer, Wildcats!
