Today in Personal Finance Seniors had the chance to explore and compare four different types of savings accounts. Each group wrote their results down and transferred their findings to sticky notes that were placed on the walls around the room. After each group stuck up their information the students performed a gallery walk to compare their results with the 3 other types of accounts. “I need to change my savings account!” One student shouted as they left the room. “The interest level was high today. It was also refreshing to see students accessing AI for an educational reason! I didn’t give them the info, they researched it, recorded it themselves, and then openly shared it with each other. They willingly took ownership of this lesson today! Plus they enjoyed it!” Said, Mrs. Ekis

Mrs. Ekis wasted no time jumping into personal finance with her students. It’s only day 2 and they were given the task of budgeting! Each eraser/bean represented part of their income. The groups started with 20 beans which was pretty easy. Then they had to revise their finances with only 13 beans. After that each team rolled the dice! You know, sometimes in life you get lucky and other times you DON’T! Their roll was to see if they would earn a pay increase of two more beans OR lose three more beans because they did not have adequate insurance to cover an injury they just incurred. Mrs. Ekis said the conversations in class amongst her students were fantastic and the questions that this activity brought were outstanding! “The kids really got into it! The groups that lost when they rolled the dice were not happy at all. They kept saying that it wasn’t fair. That’s when I threw my arms up and said That’s REAL Life!”💙💛🧮

Proud of our amazing team of educators & administrators for presenting a session at the PA School Improvement Conference in Harrisburg on our implementation of IXL to offer tier 2 interventions for students and promote academic growth. They absolutely crushed it and are now being asked by other schools & intermediate units to collaborate and present. EA making another huge positive impact! This is what makes EA great! 💙💛
