This morning the firefighters assisted West Sunbury American Legion with hanging some banners that were recently repaired. We also replaced the flags that were provided by PA State Rep. Marci Mustello, just in time for Memorial Day. Don't forget about the service being held in Boyers at 10am and West Sunbury immediately following. Thank you to Chief Brad Bryan and Captain Carters Sutton and the crew.

This Memorial Day Weekend, the members of the North Washington Volunteer Fire Department pause to remember the true meaning of this holiday.

Memorial Day is not simply the unofficial start of summer, a day for cookouts, or time spent with family and friends—while those traditions are cherished, this day exists for a far greater purpose: to honor and remember the brave men and women of our armed forces who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.

Here in our own community, we remember Luciano Plesakov, a local hero who was killed in action while serving our country. His sacrifice will never be forgotten, and his legacy lives on through the naming of the Moniteau High School football stadium in his honor—a lasting reminder of courage, duty, and selfless service.

Today, as the flags wave and families gather, we ask everyone to take a moment of reflection for those who never made it home, for the Gold Star families who carry that loss every day, and for the freedoms we enjoy because of their sacrifice.

Today, we want to take a moment to recognize and thank all of the incredible mothers, grandmothers, stepmothers, and mother figures in our community for everything you do each and every day.

From the endless love, support, and sacrifices you make for your families, to the strength, compassion, and dedication you show in all that you do—your impact is immeasurable.

A special thank you to the moms within our fire department family who balance motherhood while supporting our mission, whether as members, auxiliary volunteers, spouses, or the steady support behind the scenes that keeps us going.

We hope your day is filled with love, appreciation, and time with those who matter most.
