Ok gang. It’s probably going to rain a bit over the next few days. Areas that flood with lots of rain may flood again.

We have increased chances of rain locally Sunday-Tuesday.

Other areas of the state may see heavy flooding as the remnants of a Pacific Ocean tropical system passes through the great state of Texas.

As always we recommend common sense and patience with travel or plans that may be affected by weather. The state is preactivating and pre deploying assets statewide in preparation.

Any specific threats to Madison County will be addressed by Madison County Office of Emergency Management if needed.

If you have not already done so consider downloading the Madison county (Texas) app from your smartphones App Store for timely alerts and notices from Madison County officials.

So. The good news.

We are not under a burn ban.

Yall drive safe out there this weekend.

A flood setup is looking increasingly possible from this weekend into next week as remnant tropical moisture from what was Tropical Storm Cristina in the Eastern Pacific pools along a cold front that stalls in-between I-20 and I-10 from Texas, across the Deep South, into parts of the Carolinas. Flooding is possible each day from Saturday and Sunday across the Southern Plains to the South from Monday through Wednesday or Thursday of next week. A widespread swath of 3-7 inches likely🌀⛈️🌧️

Just some clarity because apparently there is some confusion.

A local group is hosting a meetup on Saturday July 11th that will be a social/vendor event.

They have asked the department to be able use our parking lot to hold their event.

As a nonprofit entity serving the community the department tries to support our community by letting local citizens use the grounds for community events. Likewise we serve as the community polling place for governmental elections.

That being said we are not hosting or running the meetup event, nor is the department using the meetup event as a department fundraiser.

Any questions about the meetup should be directed to Chelesy Black or Coliee Cole. They have shared this on multiple local groups.

Their updated flyer is below.
