At the Board of Selectmen's meeting last night 8/17/26, the Selectmen welcomed Matthew Marcotte as our new Building Inspector and Michelle Larson as the new Sr. Administrative Assistant/HR Assistant in the Town Managers office. Please help us in making them feel welcome to the Town.

Appointments to the Landtrail Stewardship Committee, Board of Assessors and Safety Committee were also made. Thank you to our volunteers who keep these boards going!

Vertex, Owners Project Manager for the Senior Center Project presented a comprehensive update on the Senior Center Project.

A second presentation was provided by WRTA staff and Board members regarding the WRTA Route A & B Elimination and Alternatives.

National Grid Residential Basic Service (Aug 1, 2026 – Jan 31, 2027): 17.185 ¢/kWh (Approved by the DPU)

CEA Rate: 14.346 ¢/kWh

What This Means For You:
Our community rate stays lower than National Grid for the next six months.

If you are enrolled in the town's default plan, you are already getting this lower rate. No action needed.

🦟 West Nile Virus (WNV)-positive mosquitoes have been identified in communities across Massachusetts, including neighboring Millville. At this time, there are no changes to local risk levels, but residents are encouraged to take precautions to reduce their risk of mosquito bites.
When spending time outdoors, especially during peak mosquito activity at dusk and dawn:
✅ Use mosquito repellents containing an EPA-registered active ingredient
✅ Empty and remove any standing water around your property where mosquitoes can breed
✅ Check window and door screens for holes or damage and repair them as needed

A few simple precautions can help protect you, your family, and your community throughout mosquito season.

Find local risk levels for Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) and West Nile Virus (WNV) based on seasonal testing from June to October.

WRTA Shuttle Service will be ending Routes A & B on August 28, 2026.
If you or someone you know relies on these routes to get around, alternative transportation options are available:
🔹 Seniors (60+) & Disabled Riders: Contact the Council on Aging (COA) at 508-234-2002 for travel assistance. If the COA cannot accommodate your request, call Tri-Valley at 508-949-6640 and ask for the Intake department.
