"The American Revolution" - directed by Ken Burns, Sarah Botstein, and David Schmidt - examines how America’s founding turned the world upside-down. An expansive look at the virtues and contradictions of the war and the birth of the United States of America, the film follows dozens of figures from a wide variety of backgrounds.

On June 24th, we'll be screening an excerpt titled "The Spirit of Service", which explores service as a core American value, from the nation's founding through to the present day - examining volunteerism, civic participation, public leadership, and more. A conversation facilitated by Mount Desert town manager Alex Kimball, community volunteer Phil Lichtenstein, and library director Amy Wisehart will follow. FREE sports and outing gear at the Northeast Harbor Library today (June 13) 9:00 am - 1:00 pm. You were all incredibly generous with your donations; now all we need is for people to take this stuff off our hands! Highlights include: skis/boots/poles, ice skates, snowshoes, a snowboard, hiking packs, camping gear, exercise equipment, bike trailers, diving equipment, hockey sticks/goals, golf clubs/bag, bicycles, and much more.

We'll accept new donations until 10:00 am, but please hold on to your items after that - there's always next year's swap, or other good causes in the area. It's a lot of work to move these items around and our goal is to have as much of taken as possible by the end of the day.

From 10:00 am - 1:00 pm, we'll also be hosting an Appliance Repair Cafe. Volunteers will offer help fixing appliances and small electronics, also for free!

This program is a collaboration between the Northeast Harbor Library, the Sustainability Committee of the Town of Mount Desert and A Climate to Thrive

Free sports gear and Appliance Repair Cafe at the Northeast Harbor Library tomorrow, Saturday June 13! All gear was donated by community members. Repairs start at 10:00 am and are limited to appliances and small electronics by volunteer expertise.
