Just wanted to take a second to say thank you so much to all of the people and incredible organizations who have donated to our fundraiser! We literally could not do the work we do without your grassroots donations. We want to give a special shout out to Black Lives Matter Yard Sign Project from the Unitarian Universalist in Minneapolis who donated $5,000 from their yard sign sales to advance our racial Justice organizing. And we want to express our deep humble solidarity with your community with the loss of your incredible light and freedom fighter Williams. YPAC has roots in Highlander Center and we were blessed by her support and guidance there.

For years YPAC alongside other Mpls community organizations has campaigned to get cops out of Minneapolis Public Schools. WE WON! With the tidal wave of solidarity from the movement for Justice for George Floyd and the movement for black lives more broadly, the Minneapolis School Board finally ended their contract with the Police Department! Now we need to make sure that schools move towards genuine healing and restorative justice practices that support the safety and well being of all students! We have just gotten word that the Minneapolis Public School Board will vote on Tuesday, 6/2, to end their contract with the Minneapolis Police Department. In August 2017, MPS signed a contract for $1.17 million dollars for 17 Student Resource Officers (cops in schools) district-wide. YPAC has been organizing and protesting against this contract since 2017, and along with the help of organizations such as MPD 150, Reclaim the Block, Our Turn Twin Cities, and Black Liberation Project, we are closer to success than we have ever been before. We're asking for one final push from you. YPAC member Rayna wrote a script to fill in and send out to school board members and the superintendent Ed Graff. Please take 5 minutes out of your day and help us get these KKKops out of our schools! MPS is putting money into the pockets of those who trained men like the murderer Derek Chauvin and allowed them to terrorize and murder BIPOC. We need your help to end this now. Look in the comments on this post for a version of the script which you can copy and paste, along with the emails and phone numbers of school board members.

Yesterday, the University of Minnesota announced they would no longer contract with MPD. MPD has been occupying Minneapolis Public Schools for years. Their three year contract is coming up this year and we demand that they don’t return to our schools.

Its only the second day of YPAC (Anti-) Summer School and already this space has been so powerful and transformative. Students are coming together to share wisdom and expertise about how to fight for social change and survive day to day life and it is SO BEAUTIFUL.
This is essential work for the long term health and success of our people and social movements and youth of color are doing it FOR FREE because the world we live in doesn't value the labor of young people, especially POC and otherwise marginalized youth-movement spaces are not an exception to this! Move some money ($5-$15) over to our venmo to fund this program and compensate the students who have put in so many hours of work to make this come to life.

LA High School Students WON a huge victory to end random (racist) searches in the LA schools!!! They've been fighting for years and this is a major victory to disrupt the school to prison pipeline!!!!!
