A huge thank-you to Raynor Garage Doors for sponsoring Northfield's Centennial Celebration! As a longtime business in our community, Raynor has been part of Northfield's story for years, and we're grateful for their continued support 🎂🎉

Unlike front doors, garage doors are often less secure. They may rely on older technology, weaker materials, or simple mechanisms that are easy to bypass. Some hidden garage security vulnerabilities that most homeowners overlook include:

🏡 Outdated Garage Door Openers and Fixed Codes
🏡 Weak Door Panels and Structural Gaps
🏡 The Forgotten Side Entry Door
🏡 Leaving Your Remote in the Car
🏡Poor Lighting Around the Garage
🏡 No Monitoring or Smart Security Features
🏡 Leaving the Garage Open

The community is invited to join the Village for a remembrance ceremony marking the 25th anniversary of the events of September 11, 2001 🇺🇸 Please join your neighbors at the Fire-Rescue Facility, 1800 Winnetka Road, at 8:30 AM.

The ceremony will include speeches, followed by the tolling of the station bell - a tradition marking the moment the South Tower fell in New York. This honors the courage and sacrifice of the brave men and women who gave their lives so that others could live.

As we reflect on our incredible Centennial celebration on August 22, we want to give a special shoutout to the local food vendors who helped make the day so delicious: Hofherr Meat Co., Taco Nano, and U Dawg U! 🐷🌮🌭

Attendance for the event exceeded all our expectations, but thanks to these amazing local businesses, no one went hungry! Their delicious offerings were a huge part of what made this milestone celebration so special.

🎉 Thank You, Happ Inn Bar and Grill! 🎉

Our Village Centennial Celebration on August 22 was a huge success, and we owe a big thank you to the Happ Inn for their generous sponsorship! Their support helped fund the day's festivities, our commemorative history book, and other centennial keepsakes.

The Happ Inn continues to show what real community partnership looks like — investing in the people and milestones that make our Village special. We're grateful to have them in our corner! Here's to the next 100 years! 🎈

Help prevent flooding and protect local waterways by keeping ditches, streams, and river areas free of debris 🌧️ Avoid dumping yard waste or other materials, as they can cause blockages and disrupt water flow.

After storms, please clear any debris from nearby drainage areas. Remember, ditches and storm sewers lead directly to streams and rivers, so never dispose of chemicals, oils, or household waste in these spaces.

On July 3, Northfield’s Police and Fire-Rescue personnel responded to a report of a person attempting to take their own life. Police Officer Michael McGarry was the first to arrive and acted immediately, stopping the attempt and providing critical assistance. The person was not breathing and had no pulse.

Fire-Rescue members Deputy Chief Tom Burke, Captain Mikel Milks, Firefighter/EMT Frank Cambria, Fire-Medic Jeff Lapelusa, Fire-Medic Luke Lapke, Fire-Medic David Steele, and Fire-Medic Kyle Tuttle quickly arrived and began caring for the person. Through their outstanding teamwork and skill, they resuscitated the person at the scene, got them in the ambulance, and began transporting them to the emergency room.

While en route to the hospital, the person again lost their pulse. Our Fire-Rescue team resuscitated them again, restoring both their pulse and breathing. The person was treated at the hospital and has been released to continue their recovery.

This incident is an incredible reminder of the extraordinary work our team of first responders do every day. The quick actions, skills, and dedication of Officer McGarry and our Fire-Rescue staff made a life-saving difference. We are incredibly proud to call them members of our team.

Last night, the Village Board recognized the extraordinary lifesaving efforts of Police Officer Mike McGarry and the Fire-Rescue team of Deputy Chief Tom Burke, Captain Mikel Milks, Firefighter/EMT Frank Cambria, Fire-Medic Jeff Lapelusa, Fire-Medic Luke Lapke, Fire-Medic David Steele, and Fire-Medic Kyle Tuttle. Please join us in thanking them for their amazing work! 🚓🚑🚒
