Can you help our Northfield Tax-Aide Volunteers? We need volunteers to keep this vital service available in Northfield. AARP Foundation Tax-Aide is the nation's largest free, volunteer-led tax preparation program, primarily serving older adults with low income who need help filing their taxes. As a volunteer, you can make a big difference in someone’s life — in a short amount of time.

FiftyNorth & Northfield Area Family YMCA To Merge -
The two community-serving nonprofits will legally merge as of January 1, 2027 to serve greater Northfield together. We are thrilled to announce that FiftyNorth and the Northfield Area Family YMCA have approved a Plan of Merger to advance wellbeing in greater Northfield. SO true… We’re just glad we can donate our ‘stuff’ to a great organization. Thanks to all the Used-a-Bit volunteers who help out everyday. 🙂 ❤️

Your kids don’t want your stuff, but Used-A-Bit does! Donate your clean, gently used household items, jewelry, toys, collectibles, linens, and tools, and help keep our shelves fully stocked to serve our community. Donations are accepted Tuesdays-Thursdays, 10 a.m.-4:00 p.m. and Friday-Saturdays, 10 a.m.-noon. So, go through your home and garage and then drive to Used-A-Bit at 624 Water Street. Drive around to the alley in the back, look for the ramp by the double doors, knock on the door, and one of our friendly volunteers will accept your donation.

We’re excited to announce our upcoming Art, Craft, Vendor, and Author Book Fair on Saturday, November 22 from 9am to 1pm at FiftyNorth, and we’re currently looking for amazing vendors!
If you create unique crafts, are an author and sell your books, or showcase your art, we’d love to have you. This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase your work. Secure your spot! We’re now accepting vendor applications. Don’t miss out on this chance to reach new customers!
Tables will be provided by FiftyNorth. If you are interested in renting a space, register online or in person.
Set up will be the day before from 2 to 4pm, and at 7am the morning of the sale Details about the event, setup, take down along with a waiver & release of liability form will be emailed to you after registration.
~ If you are a food vendor you must be licensed.

"I furnished my apartment without spending a fortune!"💸💸💸

The Used-a-Bit Shoppe in Riverwalk Mall is a Northfield treasure, run by a dedicated crew of FiftyNorth volunteers, like Gail, who love giving good items a second life.

After 20 years away from Minnesota, Gail decided it was time to come back. But where would she land? 🤔. She had family in Northfield and Minneapolis. Her son suggested that she take a tour of FiftyNorth to get a feel for Northfield's vibrant 50+ community. She took the tour and 💥 BOOM. 💥She knew she'd found her place.

Gail downsized a ton and arrived in town with a bed, a TV, and a laptop.🛏️📺💻

Her first stop was Used-a-Bit. She found just about everything, including the little things that make a house feel like home.🏠

One day at the store, Gail mentioned to the person behind the counter that she'd just paid $6 for an extension cord at Menards ... only to discover the EXACT same thing at Used-A-Bit for $1. 😳

Deb, the assistant manager, was that person and immediately saw an opportunity. Gail loved the store, was a regular customer, and had the perfect personality for the front counter. "Would you like to volunteer here?" she asked.

Gail didn't hesitate and, just like that, she found what every person new to town hopes for:

✅ New friends
✅ A fun "job" where every day is different
✅ A meaningful way to volunteer and give back to the community

"I only knew my son and grandson when I moved here," Gail says. "Now I get to talk with everyone, from locals discovering us for the first time, to the international students from the colleges, to the regulars who stop by just to chat. I love it!"
