Cadets from Norwich University and Dartmouth College Army ROTC programs braved the rain and cold temperatures to conduct a 4-day FTX (Field Training Exercise) at Camp Ethan Allen Training Site in Jericho, VT this weekend. The FTX consisted of an M4 rifle range, Leadership Reaction Courses (LRC), training in Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC), land navigation, and Situational Training Exercise (STX) lanes designed to train Infantry small unit tactics. While MSI and MSII Cadets benefit greatly from this training, it is primarily a “capstone” event to finalize preparations for our MSIII Cadets who will participate in Cadet Summer Training (CST) this summer at Fort Knox, Kentucky. Cadet performance at CST will affect their standing among other Cadets across the country and ultimately their selection for active duty service and military branch of service (Infantry, Armor, Signal Corps, etc). Congratulations to the Pioneer Battalion for completing this difficult, yet successful FTX!

Congratulations to our Norwich University Cadets who completed this arduous event and represented AROTC and the Pioneer Battalion!

Last Night Pioneer Battalion MS4 Cadets conducted “Branch Night” at Norwich University’s White Chapel. This event is one of very few in terms of excitement and significance in future Officers’ careers. As the name implies, Branch Night is when Cadets find out which branch of the Army (Armor, Aviation, etc.) they will serve in during their careers after commissioning. Congratulations to the Class of 2022 on their branch assignments!

On 01NOV2021, Norwich University Ranger Challenge placed 3rd overall in the Spartan Ranger Challenge, held at Fort Knox, KY. Some of the smartest, fastest, and strongest ROTC members from across the country are gathered at Fort Knox this past week for a chance to prove which team of cadets is the best the U.S. Army has to offer. This competition is conducted over two days on a non-tactical course. The mission is to challenge Cadets' mental and physical toughness and to develop leadership while fostering teamwork and esprit-de-corps. It is this first time in a couple of years that Norwich University was able to place top 3 overall. Congratulations!

Norwich University Fall FTX

Norwich University Army ROTC conducted its Fall Field Training Exercise Thursday through Sunday. The Cadets started off the training with MEDEVAC training with the support from C CO, 3-126th Aviation (Air Ambulance), the "Patriot Medevac," from the Massachusetts Army National Guard.

Cadets rehearsed casualty loading and offloading, MEDEVAC 9-Line procedures, and had the opportunity to fly on the UH-60 MEDEVAC Blackhawks.

What is your most memorable training event? How did your training prepare you for your career?

10NOV2020 – Mil Lab

During Mil Lab yesterday the Pioneer Battalion received a visit from the 10th Combat Aviation Brigade out of Fort Drum, NY.

Our MS3’s were able to receive cold load training on the CH-47 Chinook and the UH-60 Blackhawk, while the MS1’s and MS2’s learned how to load a casualty onto a medevac helicopter. It was an incredible experience for all cadets to talk to the pilots and crew of these aircraft, and to learn more about what the Army Aviation Branch has to offer.

Cadet of the Week 26OCT2020-30OCT2020

This week our Cadet of the Week is Cadet Joseph Bornes. Cadet Bornes is an MSII from Alpha Company 1st Platoon that has distinguished himself by his knowledge and active engagement in every Mil Lab and PT session.

Cadet Bornes, a Political Science Major, is a member of the Norwich Varsity Football Team, the Knights of Columbus, and is a candidate for the Norwich Artillery and Battery unit.

“I joined the Army ROTC program here at Norwich University to pursue an opportunity to serve my country as a leader and an armor officer. I plan to serve my country and continue to hone my abilities as a leader to better serve the country and, following my military service, my community. I dedicate my evenings to completing my schoolwork and use the time in the morning following PT, if any is available, to rest my body in preparation for the day’s challenges. This method has worked well so far this semester; however, I am always looking for ways to improve my performance.”  - Cadet Joseph Bornes

Hello everyone! I am trying to build a list of all Patton Pistol Award Winners. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Searching for names and email addresses if possible. Thank you! Essayons!

When are you going to update your pictures?
Norwich inspired me to write about 9/11. Norwich: Home of ROTC! I wrote this essay for The Good Men Project Magazine.
Best wishes to all those receiving their branch assignments today!!
Any chance the Army ROTC Branching Ceremony taking place in White Chapel today at 430pm, will be streamed on Facebook Live? Or do you know where I can watch it?
When is this years branching ceremony?
"Norwich forever, queen of the hills
When far from thee, still mem’ry thrills recalling
Scenes and old friendships, songs, and old cheers
Mem’ries that fade not through the changing years."
Congrats on making the list!
When is this?
