We have lived in Northfield, NH since 1997. We moved here because it is a great place to live and to raise a family. I love the rural scenic beauty of our state, and I am very passionate about preserving our ENVIRONMENT for future generations! I am also a huge advocate for EDUCATION. I believe that as parents, we are our children's first and most important teachers. Having access to quality CHILDC
ARE and education is a MUST for raising kids to become engaged in their community, and become informed, productive citizens and lifelong learners. I am also very passionate about PEOPLE! I have devoted my professional career to working with children and families. I have worked with people all across the lifespan - from babies & toddlers to school age children, adolescents, teens, adults, and the elderly. I have done extensive paid and volunteer work with kids and families in a variety of settings in my lifetime - at a vanguard treatment center for addicted women and their children Odyssey Family Center in Canterbury; in public and private schools, at UNH Coop Ext Belknap County,The NH Task Force to Prevent Child Abuse, the 4-H Program, Restorative Justice Program. I am also very passionate about the power of COMMUNITY...I've helped start 4 non-profit organizations in NH, including the former NH Task Force on Women & Addiction. I am very passionate about SOCIAL JUSTICE issues, and have spent much time working with people who are marginalized and often devalued in society. I also believe strongly in CULTURAL DIVERSITY. My father was a Native American, I loved to learn about my heritage, it was a gift that he gave to me. I have done extensive work in our amazing 4-H Teen Believers Club with refugee families from Nepal and Iraq....it has been wonderful to help these youth and their families not only adapt to American culture, but also become successful! Many of my former 4-H students have become American Citizens and I am so proud of them
