On August 30, 2022, the Northfield Police Department and the City of Northfield community received devastating news that Patrolman Jonathan Scull had passed away.

Jonathan, the lasting impact you had on all of us at the Police Department and everyone you met, cannot be put into words. We still talk about memories of you to this day.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Scull family and everyone who knew Jonathan.

Jonathan continue to watch our backs as we continue to serve our community with the same honor and dedication as you did in your time with us.

Northfield Police officers hit the field for a Coaches vs. Cops & Players Flag Football Game during the Northfield Cardinals Annual Season Kickoff Barbecue! 🚔🏈

It was a great night of football, food, and friendly competition as we helped the Cardinals kick off another season. We’re always happy to get out on the field and spend time with the players, coaches, families, and community.

A purr-fect ending to an unusual call for service.

When this curious cat found itself stuck high in a tree, our officers called in some reinforcements. A big thank you to Yoos Tree Service for answering the call and helping bring our four-legged resident safely back down to earth.

We’re grateful to have local businesses that are always willing to step up when our community needs a hand — or a lift! 🌳🐾💙

National Night Out was a great evening of community, conversation, and connection! 🇺🇸💙

Thank you to everyone who came out to spend the night with us. It was wonderful meeting so many residents, answering questions, and seeing families enjoy the event.

A special thank you to all of our community partners, volunteers, and everyone who helped make the evening a success. Events like these strengthen the relationships that make Northfield such a great place to live.

Burglary Suspect Arrested Following Residents' Report of Suspicious Activity

On Tuesday, July 28, at approximately 11:11 p.m., a resident on Pincus Avenue contacted the Northfield Police Dispatch Center to report a suspicious male who allegedly opened the door of a parked vehicle.

Officers responded to the area and located and detained Yuma White, 30, of Northfield. During the investigation, officers reviewed surveillance footage from the area, which allegedly showed White entering a motor vehicle without the owner's permission.

As a result of the investigation, White was arrested and charged with: Two (2) counts of Burglary; Five (5) counts of Criminal Attempt to Commit Burglary.

White was processed and released pending a future court appearance in accordance with New Jersey bail reform.

The Northfield Police Department thanks the vigilant residents who promptly reported suspicious activity. Community members are encouraged to continue reporting suspicious behavior, as timely information plays a vital role in helping keep our neighborhoods safe.

Criminal charges are mere accusations. Every defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
