Good afternoon Norwich!

Yesterday evening, SGA held our annual inaugural banquet.

We honored and reflected on this past year, with what we have accomplished, and the leaders that brought us to where we are today.

Then, we celebrated those who will be carrying on the legacy, the ones who are assuming the leadership positions for the following school year.

With that being said, we introduce your new SGA President, Olivia Bloom! Olivia is extremely determined and eager to fulfill her new role, and we have every assurance that she's going to do an amazing job😊

Cheers to bringing about another amazing year of positive change!

Good Evening Norwich!

This past week, SGA held its first open forum, a period of discussion with members of the student body and representatives from student government that delved into issues at Norwich, subjects that should be addressed in the coming weeks and months. It was very constructive and we are thankful for everyone's input.

To give you an idea of topics covered throughout the meeting, here are brief meeting notes to read over!

Have a wonderful night, and best of luck on your upcoming finals!

Good Afternoon Norwich!

On Today's meet your SGA:

Mohammad Babak ‘20
Reoccurring Projects Manager

A member of our executive team since his sophomore year, junior Mohammad Babak brings a lot to the table. The international studies major is very involved outside of SGA as well; he holds positions as Co-chair on the civilian junior ring committee and he is a fellow at the Peace and War Center. Those roles have more than prepared him to handle his job as one of our reoccurring project’s managers, a position that involves coordinating the variety of endeavors that SGA undertakes, such as the Latin Honors petition signing of recent. Babak is an incredible team player, on his committees and on the field. He loves playing soccer, and also plays on the Norwich University Men’s rugby team. We’re lucky to have such a dedicated and ambitious member of our team!

Good Afternoon and Happy(ish) Monday Everyone!

On this afternoon's 'Meet your SGA', we have:

Jake Ryan ‘19
Special Projects Manager

Need an event planned? Need someone to help you brush up on your baseball skills? Jake is your guy for both! While being a captain of NU’s baseball team, Jake is also contracted with the United States Army and an intern with U.S. Probation and Pretrial Services. His involvement doesn’t stop there either! Majoring in Criminal Justice with a minor in Spanish, he has his hands full academically as well, and after all that, he still handles the responsibilities of being our event planner. Jake organizes and facilitates events such as the ice cream social right before Christmas break, and helps coordinate SGA’s presence at occasions such as open houses and club fairs. He helps raise awareness for our activities on campus and for that, we are so very appreciative!

Goooood Evening Norwich!

Tonight on 'Meet your SGA', we have our fearless leader!!

Audrey Meakin ‘19
President

A current senior at Norwich University, Audrey also has the distinguished title and honor of being the first female President of our beloved Student Government! She encourages and directs our efforts towards projects that aim to help better our school and our student body's standard of living here on campus. Projects include the betterment of campus safety, establishing stronger connections between student and faculty for greater understanding of issues here on campus, and advocating for more rainbow-chip cookies in the chow hall(she reeeaally likes those). Majoring in Management, she is well-suited to be the head of our team, and her experience academically and with SGA will serve her very well as she fulfills her contract with the United States Air Force post-graduation. After running for student office in both middle school and high school and losing both times, Audrey is immeasurably excited to serve as SGA’s President for the 2018-2019 year!

Good Evening Ladies and Gentlemen!

Tonight we present to you the man behind the moolah!

Owen McKenna ‘20
Interim Treasurer

Currently a Junior at Norwich University, Owen is SGA’s money man while our elected treasurer Olivia Bloom is abroad. He oversees our budget and develops a plan for how that money should best be utilized. Majoring in Construction Management, Owen is very technical and methodical in his thinking and hopes it will serve him well in his Army career starting when he commissions in 2020.

A 3-year varsity football player, when he isn’t in the classroom, Owen can be found on the field, practicing with his teammates, blowing off steam from the day. Just like the other members of our committee, Owen takes satisfaction in being able to represent his peers in the student body, ensuring they have a voice and are being heard here at Norwich.
