North Branford Police Department Investigates Juvenile Sexual Assault; Meriden Man Arrested
North Branford, CT โ In April 2025, Detectives with the North Branford Police Department received a report concerning the sexual assault of a juvenile. Following a comprehensive and victim-centered investigation led by Detective Massimo Piroli, conducted in partnership with the Yale Child Study Center and the Connecticut Department of Children and Families, and with assistance from the New Haven State's Attorney's Office, investigators developed sufficient probable cause to seek criminal charges.
As a result of the investigation, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Oscar Ramirez, age 39, of Meriden, Connecticut.
On May 31, 2026, Ramirez was taken into custody by the Meriden Police Department on the outstanding warrant. He was charged with two counts of Sexual Assault in the First Degree, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes ยง53a-70(a)(2).
Ramirez was held on a court-set bond of $75,000 and transported to New Haven Superior Court, located at 121 Elm Street in New Haven, Connecticut, for arraignment.
The North Branford Police Department remains steadfast in its commitment to protecting children and investigating allegations of abuse with the utmost professionalism, diligence, and compassion. Crimes involving juveniles are among the most serious offenses investigated by law enforcement, and the Department will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that victims are heard, supported, and afforded every available resource throughout the investigative and judicial process.
Chief James Lovelace commended the efforts of Detective Piroli and thanked the many agencies and professionals who contributed to the investigation.
