I can’t say enough good things about Alabama K9 and the impact they have had on me as a handler, instructor, and on our K9 program.

I first attended Alabama K9’s Basic Handler Course in 2018. That experience gave me the foundation I needed to become a successful police K9 handler, but what has impressed me even more is how well that foundation has held up over time. Years later, I returned to Alabama K9 for their instructor course, and it gave me an entirely new appreciation for the depth of their training system and the reasoning behind the methods they teach.

Ricky Farley and the staff at Alabama K9 don’t simply teach handlers how to run a dog through exercises. They teach you how to understand the dog, recognize drives and behavior, diagnose problems, and build a reliable working dog through a logical progression of training. Their approach is practical, proven, and designed around producing police dog teams that can actually perform when it matters.

Today, as a K9 instructor and someone responsible for helping develop other handlers and teams, I still routinely find myself going back to the principles I learned at Alabama K9. Their training philosophy has become a major part of how I approach developing dogs, teaching handlers, and solving training problems.

I have had the opportunity to train with and learn from a lot of people throughout my career, and I have tremendous respect for Alabama K9. I would recommend them without hesitation to an agency, handler, or trainer looking for a strong, practical foundation in police service dog training.

I’m grateful for the time I’ve spent there, the relationships I’ve developed, and especially for Ricky and the Alabama K9 staff’s willingness to continue being a resource long after the course is over. Alabama K9 has had a lasting influence on my career, and I’m proud to recommend them.
