Friends of Maybury State Park

Friends of Maybury State Park We are a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting/promoting Maybury State Park,Northville MI. We host hikes, nature programs, and special events.

The Friends of Maybury promote activities at the park, and fund park improvements in keeping with the Friends mission statement. We also work to improve facilities such as the winter enclosures for the concession building and ball diamond. We volunteer to maintain trails by building new boardwalks, raising trail beds, and eliminating erosion issues, and have sponsored work days to improve natural

areas by removing invasives such as garlic mustard. Our support and hard work can be found all over the park. Over the past 20 years, we have used our resources wisely and focused on important projects such as hiking trail improvements, trail markers, history and nature hike plaques, and more. Look for our logo or signs on our projects in the park. We have been able to secure grants between $500 and $10,000 which all go directly to park improvements. Donations and membership dues are also directed to the Park. The Friends of Maybury do not have any paid employees and minimal overhead costs (less than 6% of our annual budget). Donations are always appreciated. If you choose to make a donation, please make checks payable to “Friends of Maybury“ and mail to us at 49601 Eight Mile Road
Northville, Michigan 48167

The park staff was hard at work the last several days clearing the trails after the storms. The park is ready for a great holiday weekend. However, the area has been experiencing power outages. If the power to the park is out the modern restrooms will be closed, but the vault toilets will be available.

The Friends of Maybury had the privilege of providing a Maybury Sanatorium history hike to a group of youth from the Southwest Detroit Environmental Vision. It was a pleasure meeting them and learning more about how they are having a positive impact on their community. Many thanks to the volunteers that made this happen.
