Tonight’s theme for our Family Friday was “Emotion Potion”. There are so many emotions and feelings that we experience after the loss of a loved one. We made calming jars and talked about things that we can do that can help us when our emotions feel overwhelming. 💜🤍💜

Last night New Hope launched Week 1 of our 2026 Fall 8-Week Workshop. We are grateful that we were able to welcome over 100 participants in-person and virtually. At New Hope we often say “we hate that you have to be here because of your loss,” but we are thankful that together we do not have to grieve alone. There is power in understanding our grief and walking alongside those who “understand” and help create space to share about our loved ones. 💙

💙 This Grandparents Day, we’re thinking of those whose hearts hold both love and loss.

For some, today is a celebration of a beloved grandparent. For others, it may bring the ache of missing a grandparent, grieving a grandchild, or remembering the special bond that can never be replaced.

Grief doesn’t take a holiday. Today, we’re holding space for grandparents, grandchildren, and families carrying the loss of someone they love.

May the memories, stories, traditions, and love shared across generations continue to bring comfort and connection.

💙 Grieving as a teen can feel lonely. You don't have to go through it alone.

New Hope’s 8-Week Teen Group provides a safe, supportive space for teens ages 13-18 who are grieving the death of a loved one.

Over eight weeks, teens will have the opportunity to:

💬 Connect with other teens who understand
🧠 Learn about grief and their emotions
🌱 Grow by building healthy coping skills and tools to navigate their grief

FALL SESSION
📅 Mondays, September 14-November 2, 2026
⏰ 6:45-8:30 p.m.

Registration is open! Teens who have participated in a previous session are welcome to join again. To help create a safe and connected group environment, teens must attend Week 1 or Week 2 to continue with the session.

Congratulations to New Hope Center for Grief Support for being selected as one of our 2026 Grant Recipients! 💙💛

New Hope Center for Grief Support received a grant to support its Circles of Hope (COH) Program, providing critical grief support services for children, teens, and families in Livonia and throughout Southeast Michigan. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, New Hope is dedicated to bringing hope, healing, and new beginnings to those grieving the death of a loved one - offering all programs completely free of charge through the generosity of donors and community partners.

Through age- and loss-specific peer support groups, Family Fridays, Kid’s Grief Camp, Teen Support Groups, and school-based programming in Livonia Public Schools, New Hope surrounds grieving families with comprehensive wraparound support. Their work helps children and caregivers connect with others who share similar experiences, learn healthy coping skills, and navigate grief in a safe, understanding environment. In a community where thousands of children are impacted by loss each year, New Hope plays a vital role in reducing isolation, strengthening mental health, and supporting long-term healing for families across Livonia.

Thanks to this grant, New Hope Center for Grief Support can continue expanding access to compassionate, trauma-informed grief care - ensuring that no child or family has to walk their grief journey alone.

We believe that there can be great value in being in a small group with those who can relate to this type of loss and support each other.
