(NORTHWEST, N.C.) — Authorities and family members are renewing their appeal for information in the disappearance of a 70-year-old man who has been missing for over five years.
Mr. Artis Bryant of Brunswick County was last seen on February 26, 2021, in the town of Northwest. At the time of his disappearance, he was described as an African American male, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing around 120 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black hat, black jacket, dark pants, and black shoes.
According to reports, he was last seen at his residence around 9:00 a.m. on the morning of February 26, 2021. Earlier that morning, he visited Riegelwood Credit Union at approximately 8:00 a.m., then stopped at a gas station where he purchased ci******es, a lighter, and ice cream. He returned to his home at 4032 Northwest Road shortly thereafter.
A family member reported seeing him walk past a room inside the home. When she went to prepare breakfast for him moments later, he was no longer there. Family members immediately began searching nearby locations, including contacting relatives and checking local stores in the area, but he was not found.
Despite ongoing investigative efforts by the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office and the Northwest Police Department, the case remains unsolved. The Northwest Police Chief has requested the assistance of the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation in continuing to seek any information that may help determine his whereabouts or what may have happened.
