🚨RAILROAD CROSSING CLOSURE UPDATE 8/24

The City has received another update from Norfolk Southern regarding the railroad crossing closure. We have been informed that the tracks are now expected to remain closed until Friday.
The City has continued to communicate our concerns to Norfolk Southern and has emphasized the importance of completing the work as soon as possible due to the impact this closure is having on public safety, emergency services, schools, daily traffic, and our residents.

Norfolk Southern has indicated that they are working to have the project completed by Friday. While this is the latest timeline provided to the City, please understand that work schedules and reopening dates can change. We will continue to share updates as we receive them.

🚨RAILROAD CROSSING CLOSURE UPDATE

Norfolk Southern has notified the City that the railroad tracks will remain closed until at least Monday, August 24th.

We understand this closure is creating a significant inconvenience for our community and want to emphasize that the City of Northwood does not control this closure or the timeline for reopening the tracks. Norfolk Southern is responsible for the work and the decision on when the crossings can safely reopen.

We know this closure is causing frustration and creating challenges for everyday traffic, emergency services, school transportation, and our residents. The City is aware of the hassle this is causing and shares those concerns.

We continue to communicate with Norfolk Southern and will provide updates as soon as we receive them

The Northwood Community Center Splash Pad will remain CLOSED today 7/17/2026 due to poor air quality.
