Successful Fire Drill This Morning
I'm writing to let you know that this morning our school successfully and safely completed this school year's second fire drill. Because we are the only school that has AM and PM PreK, we need to complete drills in both the morning and afternoon so that all students are able to practice the routine.
In cooperation with the Norton Fire Department and Police Department, all students and staff safely cleared the building this morning following the district's fire drill protocol. Working together, all students quickly and safely exited the school, the JCS teachers and staff accounted for the location of every student, and we were able to quickly re-enter the building and engage with the typical morning learning activities.
As a reminder, fire drill are safety exercises designed to prepare students and staff for potential emergencies by practicing how to safely exit the building and line up away from the building so that attendance can be taken to account for all students. In a real emergency, these protocols are critical to keeping everyone in the building safe. Fire drills are always practiced in partnership with Norton safety personnel.
As with all of our safety practices, this drill was conducted in a way that took into account the ages and developmental levels of our students. Our goal is to build confidence and preparedness among our students and staff without causing undue fear or anxiety.
Thank you for your continued partnership. Please reach out if you have any questions.
