I am deeply honored and grateful to the Republican Central Committee for placing their trust and confidence in me through this nomination to serve as Norton County Sheriff effective July 1st, 2026.

Over the past several years, I have had the privilege of serving the citizens of our county and working alongside an exceptional group of law enforcement professionals. I am thankful for the support of the committee members, our dedicated staff, community leaders, and the residents who place their faith in the Sheriff’s Office every day.

As I move forward, I will remain committed to the principles that have long guided our community with personal responsibility, respect for the rule of law, fiscal accountability, and a steadfast commitment to protecting the constitutional rights of our citizens. I believe the Sheriff’s Office has been and will continue to be a professional organization that serves the people with integrity, fairness, and transparency while upholding the values that make our county a great place to live, work, and raise a family.

As Sheriff, I will continue to support our deputies and staff, work cooperatively with our local partners, and ensure that our office remains focused on its core mission of protecting our citizens and enforcing the law. I am equally committed to being a responsible steward of taxpayer dollars by maintaining sound budgets, seeking efficiencies where appropriate, and ensuring that every resource entrusted to this office is used wisely and effectively.

I believe government works best when it is accountable to the people it serves. My door will remain open, and I will continue to listen to the concerns of our citizens while leading with professionalism, common sense, and respect for our community’s values.

I sincerely appreciate the confidence that has been placed in me, and I look forward to serving the people of Norton County.

As many of you know, Sheriff Thomson has made the decision to retire after 33 years of dedicated service in law enforcement here in Norton County. We could not be more proud of his remarkable career.

Sheriff Thomson has been someone we and the community could always trust, rely on, and look up to. He was exceptional at offering guidance, answering difficult questions, and being there when he was needed most. Troy has led with integrity, professionalism, and unwavering dedication.

His service has extended far beyond Norton County. Through his contributions to numerous law enforcement organizations across Kansas and beyond, he has made a lasting impact on the profession and the people within it. His leadership, commitment, and example have left a legacy that will not be forgotten.

Thank you, Troy, for your dedication to our community. Norton County is better because of you and we wish you nothing but the very best in your well earned retirement.

Today we remember and honor those who gave their lives for our freedom.
