The Norton County Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications for a full-time Deputy Sheriff position.
Starting salary is $20.00 an hour. Hourly pay may be higher based on years of service, qualifications, and certifications up to $29.00 an hour.
Benefits include overtime, sick leave, vacation, single health insurance, dental, optometry, KPERS retirement plan, uniforms, equipment, and a take-home patrol vehicle.
No experience is required, although candidates are expected to achieve a level of proficiency within 6 months.
21 years of age or older.
High School diploma or equivalent.
Valid Driver’s License, with no felony convictions and certain misdemeanor convictions, and be able to complete background and psychological exams.

Today marks the end of one chapter and the beginning of another for the Norton County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Troy Thomson has officially retired after his dedicated service to Norton County. We sincerely thank Sheriff Thomson for his commitment to Norton County and wish him all the best in his well earned retirement.

Today also marks the beginning of a new chapter as Sheriff Adam Wahlmeier and Undersheriff Chris Bailey officially assume their new roles. We are honored by the opportunity to serve the citizens of Norton County and are thankful for the trust and support.

A big thank you to the Norton and Almena Libraries for inviting us to spend time with the kids the past couple of weeks. We had just as much fun as they did!
