Kentucky State Police Post 02 Announces Promotion

Kentucky State Police Post 02 is proud to announce the promotion of Sergeant Aaron Jestes U/223. His dedication, determination, and commitment to public service have been exemplary, and we are honored to recognize this significant achievement.

Sergeant Aaron Jestes (U/223)

Sergeant Jestes proudly served in the United States Military for six years prior to beginning his career in law enforcement. He graduated the KSP Academy in 2015 completing Cadet Class 93. Throughout his time with the Kentucky State Police, he has been an outstanding member of both Post 01 (Mayfield) and Post 02 (Madisonville).

Effective September 2025, Sergeant Jestes will transfer to Post 01 in Mayfield. We thank him for his exceptional service to the Commonwealth and look forward to his continued leadership in this new role.

Kentucky State Police Post 02 Announces Promotion

The Kentucky State Police Post 02 would like to extend sincere congratulations to Sergeant Hunter Carroll (U/118) on his well-deserved promotion.

Sergeant Carroll began his law enforcement career in 2014 after graduating from the Department of Criminal Justice Training. He served several years with the Christian County Sheriff’s Office before joining the Kentucky State Police, graduating from Cadet Class 95 in 2017.

Throughout his career, Sergeant Carroll has served with dedication as both a Trooper and a Detective at KSP Post 02 in Madisonville. He now continues to serve the Commonwealth as a Sergeant under Special Operations for the Kentucky State Police.

Kentucky State Police Post 02 Announces Promotion

Kentucky State Police Post 02 proudly congratulates Captain Brian Duvall (U/27) on his recent promotion. His unwavering dedication, leadership, and commitment to the mission of the Kentucky State Police have been exemplary, and we are honored to recognize his accomplishments.

Captain Duvall graduated from Cadet Class 79 in 2002 and has served with distinction in multiple roles, including Trooper, Sergeant, and Lieutenant. Over the course of his career, he has served at several KSP Posts, including Post 1 (Mayfield), Post 2 (Madisonville), Post 3 (Bowling Green), and the KSP Academy in Frankfort. His service to the Commonwealth has been both significant and impactful.

Effective September 2025, Captain Duvall will transfer to the Kentucky State Police Security Branch. While his presence and contributions to Post 02 will be greatly missed, we are confident that he will continue to serve the Commonwealth with distinction in his new role.

**NEWS RELEASE**

Kentucky State Police: Two Arrested After Death of 10-Month-Old Infant

EARLINGTON, Ky. (08/14/2025)– On 08/03/2025, Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 2 was contacted by Hopkins County dispatch requesting an investigation of the death of a 10-month-old infant in Earlington.

Preliminary investigation revealed the 10-month-old was pronounced deceased by the Hopkins County Coroner inside the residence of the infant's caretakers.

Through a thorough investigation and autopsy, it was determined foul play was the cause of death.

The infant's biological mother, Samantha Stagner, 27, of Earlington, Ky, and the mother's boyfriend, Dayton Mason, 29, of Earlington, Ky, were arrested today and lodged in the Hopkins County Detention Center.

Samantha Stagner and Dayton Mason were both charged with Manslaughter 1st degree.

The investigation is ongoing by Detective Fortney. No additional details regarding the investigation will be released at this time.
