EVENT: Freeze Warning

ALERT:

* WHAT...Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 30 expected.

* WHERE...Portions of north central, northeast and northwest
Ohio and northwest Pennsylvania.

* WHEN...From 1 AM to 9 AM EDT Sunday.

* IMPACTS...Frost and freeze conditions will kill crops, other
sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor
plumbing.

INSTRUCTIONS:

A Freeze Warning is issued when sub-freezing temperatures are
forecast to threaten outdoor plants. Those with agricultural
interests are advised to harvest or protect tender vegetation.
Potted plants outdoors should be covered or brought inside.

To prevent water pipes from freezing; wrap or drain or allow them to
drip slowly.

At 603 AM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking gusty showers near Bucyrus,
moving northeast at 55 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.

Locations impacted include...
Bucyrus, Upper Sandusky, Shelby, Willard, Plymouth, New Washington,
Chatfield, Greenwich, Benton, Nevada, Tiro, Oceola, Sulpher Springs,
and Shenandoah.

INSTRUCTIONS:

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

mph.

Lorain, Elyria, Norwalk, Vermilion, North Ridgeville, Avon Lake,
Amherst, Grafton, Willard, Wellington, New London, Northern Milan,
Milan, Wakeman, Avon, Sheffield Lake, Eaton, Oberlin, Sheffield, and
Lagrange.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Press Release 10/14/26

The Norwalk Police Department was notified by law enforcement authorities from Michigan they had received information that an individual that had commitment criminal acts in their jurisdiction was believed to be in the City of Norwalk. The individual was later located deceased of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound in field just north of the city limits. The local investigation has been turned over to the Huron County Sheriff’s Office. The Norwalk Police Department would like to thank the Bellevue Police Department, Huron and Erie County Sheriff’s Offices, the Norwalk Fire Department, North Central EMS, and the Huron County Prosecutor’s Office for their assistance.

A friendly reminder that a burn ban is in effect.

The months of March, April, May, October and November favor the most for dry/dead vegetation. This combined with atmospheric conditions such as low humidity and breezy conditions create the environment for very fast spreading vegetation fires, which can easily threaten structures and other property. Stay safe everyone!
