💡 Meet the Inventor: NPS Students Thinking Big! 🚀

💉Noah Paredes, a fourth grader at Naramake Elementary School, invented the Slider Forgetter 3000, a customizable invention that helps people remember to take often forgotten items to and from school or work.

On May 2, Noah showcased his invention at Connecticut Invention Convention 2026 at University of Connecticut in Storrs.

As an IB school we encourage students to take action on their learning and Juliette has really embraced the importance of taking action! For the Invention Convention, Juliette created Stylish Safety; a bag for students who need to travel with an epipen. But Jules was not satisfied to stop there! She is continuing her work by raising awareness for asthma and allergy sufferers. All next week on the morning news program, Jules will share information about allergies, asthma, and ways that students can help. To go along with this important week she has organized a spirit week to help create awareness. Look for information in your students' folders today!

🌊 Huge shoutout to the Brien McMahon High School Marine Science students for hosting our Naramake first graders earlier this month! 🐠

What made this field trip extra special? Seeing the IB continuum in action! 🌟 It was such a proud moment watching our young IBPYP learners being mentored and inspired by the older IBDP students. Connecting IB learners across different stages of their educational journey shows exactly what community and collaborative learning are all about! 🤝📚

Thank you to the amazing BMHS scholars for being such fantastic teachers, showing incredible leadership, and giving our district's youngest learners a fun, hands-on inquiry experience they won't forget! 💙🦈

🌊 Earlier this month, the Brien McMahon High School Marine Science Academy transformed into an interactive learning hub as it welcomed a special group of visitors: first-grade students from Naramake Elementary School.

🎓 This collaborative educational event was entirely driven by our high school scholars. Under the guidance of their teacher, Mrs. Eva Bartush, 11th-grade students in the IB Marine Studies 1 class took the lead in designing, organizing, and implementing a series of engaging, hands-on activities specifically tailored for their younger peers.

🐠Throughout the day, the high school students served as mentors and teachers, guiding the Naramake first graders through various marine science stations. This event not only showcased the incredible leadership and knowledge of Mrs. Bartush's IB students but also provided a wonderful, inspiring STEM experience for our district's youngest learners.

💡 Meet the Inventor: NPS Students Thinking Big! 🚀

🌟🍦 Eliza Z., our very own 5th grader, is turning an everyday problem into a national-level invention!
Last year, Eliza created the EZ Cone, an eco-friendly solution designed to prevent soft-serve ice cream from melting and dripping out of cones. 🍦♻️ After showcasing her idea at our Invention Convention, Eliza advanced to the Connecticut Invention Convention in spring 2025 at the University of Connecticut, where she earned an invitation to the Invention Convention U.S. Nationals.

Eliza will present her invention at the Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation in June 2026. As she prepares for the national competition, she continues to refine the EZ Cone, connect with local businesses, and explore the patent process 📄🔍.
