BUC-EE'S UPDATE: NORWALK IS BACK ON THE TABLE!

Following the Urbandale City Council’s vote against the land use plan change for a proposed Buc-ee’s development, the City of Norwalk has reached back out to Buc-ee's to continue the conversation about bringing the popular travel center to our community. City officials have requested a meeting with Buc-ee’s representatives to discuss the opportunity and explore whether Norwalk could be the future home of Iowa’s first Buc-ee’s. The conversation isn’t over — and Norwalk is ready to talk!

Make it a safe Saturday by bringing hazardous waste to a drop off near you.

Everyone has hazardous waste in their home and Metro Waste Authority offers multiple locations to make drop-off simple. Safely dispose of items like paint, household cleaners, and chemicals while you’re already out and about.

Bondurant: open every Saturday
Metro Hazardous Waste Drop-Off
1105 Prairie Drive SW, Bondurant
Saturdays: 8 AM – Noon
Tuesday-Friday 10 AM – 5 PM

Grimes: open the 2nd Saturday, March through November
4105 SE Beisser Drive, Grimes
2nd Saturdays, March through November: 8 AM – Noon
Mondays and Wednesdays: By appointment

Visiting a drop-off will help make yours a safe Saturday because you’ll be keeping dangerous materials out of your home, your trash, and the environment.

Pardon our mess! Repair work is currently underway in the upper west side of the library parking lot.

The library is open, but parking is temporarily limited and there is an active construction zone in the area. Please allow a few extra minutes when visiting and watch for workers and equipment.

Recycling, garbage, and yard waste will not be collected on Monday, September 7, in observance of the Labor Day holiday. Regular collection will be delayed one day the remainder of the week, with Friday collection occurring on Saturday.

Extreme Temperature Plan is ACTIVE-Monday, August 31 at Noon through at least Saturday, September 5, based on forecast temperatures from the National Weather Service.
