The Huron County Engineer's Office is composed of a small group of hard working employees, who probably are your neighbors and friends, that have a stake in the welfare of the county they live in. They do a mixture of administrative, engineering, maintenance of infrastructure, equipment, roadway and bridge construction to make Huron County's transportation system safe, reliable and designed to handle the latest equipment that is ever increasing in size in our county's largest industry, Agriculture. The Huron County Engineer's office is responsible for the maintenance and repair of 223 miles of road, 401 bridges and with an annual budget of 4.8 million dollars. Our mission at the Huron County Engineer's Office is to keep the county transportation system of roads and bridges at the highest level of maintenance and operation.

Norwalk Township Project - Lovers Lane Land Slip Road Repair

The contractor back filled the new pre-cast concrete walls and steel beams to support the roadway embankment, completed concrete work, and started new road base installation. Still to be completed, asphalt paving, guardrail, and pavement markings.

The project is expected to be completed by November 13, 2026.

Our newest tandem axle plow truck was delivered to our office last week. The cab and chassis are purchased then sent to an outfitter to add the plow equipment and dump body. This truck will replace a 2007 truck in our front-line equipment to ensure our ability to keep our roadways safe.

Move Over Day is a nationwide reminder for drivers to slow down and move over when approaching roadside vehicles with flashing lights, hazard signs, or warning devices. The Move Over Law applies to vehicles with flashing lights of any color, including law enforcement officers, emergency responders, road construction, maintenance vehicles, utility crews and tow trucks.

Norwalk Township Project - Lovers Lane Land Slip Road Repair

The contractor completed installation of pre-cast concrete panels between the steel beams to support the roadway embankment. Still to be completed, road base, concrete work, asphalt paving, guardrail, and pavement markings.

The project is expected to be completed by November 13, 2026.
