The police department would like to welcome out newest officer Matt Wilson. Ofc. Wilson was sworn in by Maylor Light yesterday afternoon and began his field training. Ofc. Wilson has served as a full-time police officer for two years before coming to our agency. Ofc. Wilson is returning closer to his family and hometown, and we look forward to his years of dedicated service to the City of Norwalk.

Today, we proudly recognize Captain Daniels for 20 years of dedicated service to the citizens of our city.

Captain Daniels began his journey on this day in 2006 as a part-time officer and later that year committed to full-time service. Over the past two decades, he has consistently served with professionalism, pride, and an unwavering commitment to our community.

Beyond his role on duty, Captain Daniels continues to make a meaningful impact off duty as well. He has coached Cross Country and Track for our local schools and has spent many years teaching D.A.R.E. and Safety Town, helping guide and inspire the next generation.

Congratulations, Captain Daniels, on this incredible milestone. We are proud to have you serving our community and look forward to your continued years of dedication.

🚴‍♂️ Help Us Keep Our Community Safe This Riding Season! 🚴‍♀️

With spring and summer right around the corner, more children and families will be out enjoying bikes and e-bikes in our community. Our Police Department is increasing efforts to educate riders of all ages on bicycle and e-bike safety—and we need your help!

Parents and guardians, please take a few moments to talk with your children about:
✔️ Following traffic laws
✔️ Riding predictably and staying alert
✔️ Wearing helmets and protective gear
✔️ Being aware of vehicles and pedestrians

Our goal is simple: we want everyone to enjoy riding safely. A quick conversation today can make a big difference tomorrow.

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our beloved crossing guard, John Lynch Sr.

For many years, he was a familiar and reassuring presence in our community—greeting students with a smile, ensuring their safety, and brightening the start and end of each school day. His dedication, kindness, and unwavering commitment made a lasting impact on countless families and colleagues alike.

During this difficult time, our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing them. John will be deeply missed, but his memory will continue to live on in the lives he touched each day.

🏀🚔 Last night, the Norwalk Police Department once again took to the court for the annual Huron County Bears vs. Allstars basketball game—and let’s just say… it’s a good thing we chose crime fighting as our profession.

While our teamwork on the streets is top-notch, our performance on the hardwood might need a little… investigation. The Bears came out strong and handed us a tough loss with a final score of 81–49.

A big thank you to Ofc. Skinner, Capt. Daniels, Asst. Chief Biller, and Chief Dahlgren for representing NPD. And special shoutout to Chief Dahlgren’s daughter for putting together an NPD blooper reel that really highlights our… “efforts” on offense.

Maybe next year we’ll add “basketball practice” to our training schedule—but no promises!

All jokes aside, it was a fantastic time, and we’re already looking forward to next year (and maybe a comeback). Huge thanks to the Huron County Board of DD for organizing such a great event and including us—we truly appreciate it!

Milan Avenue is closed between Union Street and E. League Street for a downed tree branch, transformer and wires. Seek alternate routes. Many traffic lights are also out, treat intersections as four way stops. Emergency services and General Services are working to resolve all issues.
