🌳 Norwalk is getting greener! This past fall, we celebrated the planting of the new Miyawaki Micro Forest at Meadow Street Park, replacing pavement with a thriving green space. Not to be confused with a park, a Micro Forest is a dense, native forest planted using a technique designed for rapid growth and maximum ecological benefit.

This 5,500-square-foot forest will support over 1,000 trees and shrubs, helping the City achieve critical climate and resiliency goals. It works by rapidly expanding the tree canopy to capture carbon, mitigate flooding, cool rising temperatures, and improve air and water quality. It will also help connect the Pollinator Pathway across South Norwalk!

This amazing effort was made possible through City of Norwalk Recreation & Parks' partnership with the Norwalk River Watershed Association and the Norwalk Land Trust, and generous grant support from CT DEEP.

Public hearings are one of the most important tools we use at Norwalk Tomorrow. It’s your chance to speak directly to the Planning & Zoning Commission before a final decision is made.

How to make your voice heard effectively:
📍 Focus on Facts: Instead of just "I don't like this," try "The traffic study doesn't account for X" or "This project supports our goal of Y."
📍 Be Specific: Reference the specific sections of the City Plan or Zoning Regulations that concern you.
📍 Be Brief: You usually have 3 minutes—make them count by summarizing your main points!

What exactly is an Enterprise Zone? 🗺️ Think of it as a "green light" for community growth!

Norwalk Earth Day Festival – Save the Date! Join us for the 4th Annual Norwalk Earth Day Festival on Saturday, April 26 from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. on the Norwalk Green, 8 Park St. Learn what you can do to green your own life and call for climate action. Our Festival brings together a wide variety of environmental nonprofits, sustainable businesses, speakers, kids’ activities, and engaging and interactive displays – all in an effort to raise awareness of what we can do to have a positive impact on protecting the environment. Come learn how small behavioral changes can in fact, make a big impact on healing the earth-- as well as ourselves. Our vibrant event will feature live music, food trucks, tree planting, yoga, kid’s activities, guest speakers, a beer garden and picnic grove, vendors, healing arts, and more! The festival will focus on how critical it is to find balance and harmony in Nature’s five elements: Earth, Air, Water, Fire, and Spirit.
